<Bounty_Hunter> Session 92: Another Story - Mercenaries for Hire
<Bounty_Hunter> Time Chart: October 5th, 2222
<Bounty_Hunter> Location: Outside the Africian Zone, A Building in the Wastelands
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *all the bounty hunters have been asked to converge on a building about 2 stories in the middle of the wastelands. It's location would be almost impossible to find without direct coordinates. They are about to arrive now...*
* Baberlus can be spotted walking over the wastelands towards the building, puffing a stogie.
* Alja finds herself racing along the wastelands on a Harley motorcycle. She kicks up the sand as she rides across the hard packed dust, a trail marking her path. She wears crusty goggles, and a weathered black trench that billows with her.
* Livewire bikes across the wasteland, his hoverbike kicking up a heavy cloud of dust. His waist-long blonde hair and blue jacket fly in the wind behind him. He looks rather heavily out of place.
* Baberlus stops infront of the building, eyeing the two bikers.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *the building looks rather unimportant, as it's been chipped away by sandstorms for the past 5 years or so. A large wooden door is the only entrance inside, as there's no windows.*
* Livewire slides to a stop, dramatically kicking up even more dust. ...Unfortunately, he breaks the moment by going into a coughing fit as it clears.
* Alja skids to a stop, the tires of her bike sending some dust into the air, but not nearly as much as the other biker. She slides off the bike easily, and rests it against the building. She pulls the goggles off, and rubs the dirst off her face.
<Livewire> *cough* Looks... *hack* like they don't trust me to take this one alone. *raises his shades, revealing oddly colored yellow eyes* So, who are you two?
<Baberlus> Better than you, that's who I am, kid.
<Livewire> Well, well, listen at hotsh... hotsho... hot... ACHOO! *rubs his nose* ...Listen at hotshot.
* Alja goes about rubbing the dirt out of her red hair that falls just below her ears. Her eyes are a piercing blue and she smiles as she rests her trench over the bike. She wears a pair of tight jeans, boots, and a white tight t-shirt.
<Bounty_Hunter> 6* It's important to note that she's hot.
<Livewire> And I... I... aye-yai-yai...
* Livewire blatantly stares at Alja.
* Alja smirks at Livewire, "Exactly." She looks to Baberlus, and then to Livewire again. She speaks with a clipped British accent, "Are we it? Are we ready to press on?"
<Baberlus> I'd like to see my employer before moving anywhere, and I'd like to see my fee.
<Dias-Sleep> NRP: Employer: *hands Baberlus a fee for 500000 Gil that must be payed within 20 minutes to him*
<Alja> Five bucks our bossman is in the building. Should the lady ring the bell?
<Baberlus> Yes.
<Livewire> Whatever.
* Alja winks at Livewire, seeing he's finally got his shit together. Walking to the door, she glances for a doorbell, or something. If she doesn't see one, she knocks. If there's a bell, she rings it.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *she knocks. The door opens, slowly, upon her touch. Inside is some candles set up, lighting up the room*
* Livewire peeks over Alja's shoulder
<Livewire> Fancy place.
<Baberlus> I've seen better.
<Alja> So continental. *she reaches for her trench, and hoists it over her shoulder before stepping in.*
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *the place seems to have no power and no furniture, except a simple table with some chairs placed around it. The candles are placed randomly around the room, bringing light into the room. On the far right corner is a starcase leading up to the second floor, where movement can be heard by the most observant of bounty hunters*
* Alja mutters, "....I hate games..."
<Baberlus> Screw this.
<Baberlus> If they want to keep their anonyminimity they can do it much easier than this.
<Livewire> *yawn* Let's get this over with.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *a pause, then footsteps can be heard approaching the staircase, as if someone is coming down*
* Alja folds the coat over her arm, and glances at the stairs. She casually leans against a wall.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *a man in his thirities comes walking down, a thin scar on the right side of his face. He seems to be wearing some type of reploid armor on him as he comes down. He's wiping his hands with a dirty white rag. He looks at them.* "Ah, so you arrived.
<Alja> That we have.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *The man walks over to the table where he throws down the rag. He looks over at them* "Not as many showed up as I suspected, but that's okay. Too many people means less money for all of us."
* Baberlus looks at the man.
* Alja looks at the man, "What's the job?"
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *the man looks at each of them* There's a group of targets that needs to be eliminated. By working together, we can finish them off in one day and all go home with equal portions of the cash. I'm withholding the information on the people until we aquire them to ensure no one runs off to kill them all by themselves."
<Baberlus> How much are we talking about here?
<Bounty_Hunter> *he glances at Baberlus* A total of 50,000. While that's not a whole lot divided among the four of us, for a couple of hours work, I think the profit will be more than enough.
<Livewire> ...Seems fair enough. It'll pay for gas, if nothing else.
*** Ripple has joined #taw
* Alja crosses her arms thoughtfully, "And who exactly are we looking for? I want compensation if it's a messy job."
<Livewire> Who cares? Money is money.
<Bounty_Hunter> Low key people. They should put up less than minimal resistance.
<Baberlus> You think 12,500 is a lot. Newbie.
<Baberlus> I have nothing better to do, though.
<Bounty_Hunter> Not many jobs will let you pick up 12,500 for 3 hours work.
* Alja purses her lips, and looks to the bounty hunter, "So they call four in for some wankers?"
<Livewire> ...Who said I thought it was a lot?
<Bounty_Hunter> Our employers like the term "overkill".
<Livewire> Overkill works. Let's get this over with.
<Alja> Or underestimate. Who are our illusive employers?
<Bounty_Hunter> I can't tell you that.
*** Baberlus has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
*** Baberlus has joined #taw
<Livewire> Pfft, as long as they don't go back on our payment, they could be the Tsivrixsh for all I care.
<Bounty_Hunter> I have a shuttle out back with various weaponary that you can use if you want. If not, stick to your own. If you want to in on this, come along. If not, that means more for the rest of us.
* Alja smirks, and then nods to the bounty hunter.
<Baberlus> NRP: Gah!
* Bounty_Hunter simply walks out the front door.
* Baberlus follows.
* Livewire walks out, too.
* Alja shrugs, and follows after them
* Bounty_Hunter pulls out a remote and suddenly the sand begins to shake. A shuttle rises out of the sand, it pouring along the sides and trinkling to the ground. The ramp in the back begins to lower, touching down on the sand. Sure enough, lined up on the walls, is various weapons from sword to mines to rocket launchers.
* Bounty_Hunter walks up the ramp. Sitting in the co-pilot seat is a golden looking robot with a square head and one big eye. It's body seems to be like that of lawn mower, but he takes the co-pilot seat successfully.
<Bounty_Hunter> Mac, lock in the coordinates of that town I told you. We're going to be taking off in a moment. *he takes a seat in the pilot seat, flipping controls. He looks back at the others* Load your bikes if you want.
<Alja> Gladly.
<Livewire> Sure thing.
* Baberlus grabs a few weapons "Free is good."
* Livewire jogs over to and hops onto his bike. He loads it, then gets on the shuttle and examines the weapons.
* Alja turns on the heel of her boot, and walks out to her bike. A few moment she returns, loading the bike's saddle bags with ammo and guns. She loads it onto the shuttle
* Livewire straps a rocket launcher to his back and stuffs a few remote mines and their remote into his jacket pockets. "That oughta be enough."
<Bounty_Hunter> Alright Mac, raise the ramp. *the robot complies, the back ramp rising up behind the group. While a bit crowded, there's enough space to move around in without bumping into someone. As the ramp closes, the unnamed bounty hunter grips the controls and begins to lift off*
* Alja flops down on a seat, and glances to the crew, "I'm Alja. I figure if we're to be a team, we should know each other's names at least."
* Baberlus eyes them. "Baberlus, if you haven't heard of me you're too green."

<Livewire> Conrad. Conrad Lebalt. You may have heard of me, as Livewire.
* Alja smirks at him, and then glances to Livewire with a nod.
* Bounty_Hunter turns around in his seat. He hits a button and a table raises from the floor and a holographic projection of some African village appears. The village is rather small, but the main thing about it is that it's surrounded by a large wall with only two main entrances in or out - the front and back
<Baberlus> Livewire, huh? You're that brat who was raised with a silver spoon weren't you? I bet you're the same guy that bastard Tenri mentioned. *eyes Livewire*
<Livewire> What can I say, some of us are lucky.
<Alja> And some of us pay attention *she points to the holo image*
<Bounty_Hunter> This is village is where our targets are currently holed up. We don't know why they are there right now, but it seems they've stopped there. There is only one inn in the village, so our employers are 95% certain that are there. *an inn, located in the center of the village, blinks*
<Livewire> In, kill, out. Easy enough.
<Alja> Who, exactly, are our targets?
<Baberlus> What's our policy on collateral damage?
<Bounty_Hunter> There is no policy.
<Bounty_Hunter> Anything goes.
<Bounty_Hunter> As for who they are, I'll tell you when we arrive at the village.
<Livewire> I'm starting to like this mission.
<Bounty_Hunter> Right now, we need to come up with a plan of action.
<Bounty_Hunter> If our targets are in the center of town, we need to work forward from the city gates and ensure they have no means to escape if our first assault fails.
<Bounty_Hunter> As you can see, there is only two entrances, some huts where villagers live, the inn/pub, and some other unimportant market areas. There's no real place to hide within the village except civilian hut or the inn.
<Livewire> So we pop some traps on the entrance and exit when we move in. Trap 'em inside.
<Bounty_Hunter> The mines would work best, I would assume.
* Alja looks to Livewire, "What's the vertical on that hoverbike?"
<Livewire> Pretty high. I installed some jets on the back, so it's a lot higher than most.
<Alja> Enough to get over that wall?
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *the wall is 12 feet high*
<Livewire> Probably.
* Alja glances to Baberlus, "Think having someone inside might make things smoother?"
<Alja> Go at them from three directions, both exits, and from above?
<Baberlus> Huh? I usually run in, kill/capture/subdue the target and that's it.
<Livewire> We don't know how many targets we have, hotshot.
<Alja> There's four.
<Bounty_Hunter> I'll give you the target list now. We're almost there.
* Baberlus idly presses the barrel of his gun against the back of Livewire's head.
<Baberlus> You're one to talk, kid.
* Bounty_Hunter reaches out and hits the button and the faces of all the Alt team pop up. They are snapshots from their police officer days, back in Mega City.
<Bounty_Hunter> These are our targets.
* Baberlus looks at the targets.
<Livewire> ...Is that all? Pfft, this is going to be cake.
* Alja looks with interest at the group, "Do you read the news wetbelly?"
<Baberlus> I over-rated him, Tenri spoke too highly of you.
<Livewire> Yeah, I read the news. I try to stay positive, you know, it keeps your spirits up.
* Baberlus glances at Alja "Which news were you watching, anyway?"
<Bounty_Hunter> A couple of rogue cops will hardly be noteworthy.
<Livewire> So, yeah, in, out, get our money, go our seperate ways.
* Alja looks to Baberlus, "I saw one about a break into one of the megacity jails. Some sort of nonsense, and if I recall, it had something to do with these folks."
<Bounty_Hunter> <Mac the Robot> We have arrived. I'm bringing the shuttle down outside the village as to draw little attention to ourselves as we can.
<Livewire> Yep. That one there. *points at Warren* He got arrested for something. Broke out and took off. See? I keep up on things. *very obviously bragging to her*
<Bounty_Hunter> Understood, Mac.
* Alja looks to Livewire, "And do you know why?"
<Livewire> Uh... shoot, I know this one... *taps his temple* Dammit...
* Alja looks to Livewire, obviously enjoying watching him sweat
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *The shuttle touches down in the grasslands outside the village. As the ramp lowers, a hot breeze blows in from the grasslands.*
* Bounty_Hunter grabs some mines and a rocket launcher. He also picks up one assault rifle, stepping out into the grasslands. He looks out over the village.
<Bounty_Hunter> Alright, I'm going to set up mines at the front entrance. Who wants to mine the back way in?
* Baberlus draws his gun, "Well, let's do it."
* Alja glances to Baberlus and nods
* Livewire drops his hand to his side. A gun slides from his sleeve and into his hand. "Let's do this like Buddhists."
* Bounty_Hunter proceeds to the front of the village gate. Making sure no one is around, he scoops shallow holes and begins to plant mines into them.
* Baberlus quirks his brow to Livewire "How would they do it?"
* Livewire shrugs. "It's just an old saying. Got me."
* Livewire hops on his bike. "Now, if you'll excuse me..." He rockets out of the shuttle and towards the back entrance.
<Alja> Want a lift Baberlus?
* Bounty_Hunter finishes his work, stepping over the mines. He holds a remote and activates them. Glancing around, he moves into the city.
* Livewire parks next to the back exit and activates his bike's cloaking device and alarm system. Smirking, he moves to the exit and plants a number of mines, activates them, and moves into the city from the other side.
* Baberlus gets on with Alja.
* Bounty_Hunter stops when he notices a Mega City shuttle, probably one that the rogue police officers stole. He waits for his comrades to catch up.
* Livewire notes Hunter up ahead next to the shuttle and casually heads that way.
* Alja slides onto her bike, and kicks it into gear, driving after the bounty hunter.
<Bounty_Hunter> NRP: And right over the active mines. BOOM.
<Alja> NRP: I didn't say she entered the city
<Bounty_Hunter> NRP: You did say after the bounty hunter!
* Bounty_Hunter looks over at Lirewire, gesturing at the shuttle.
<Alja> NRP: as in the directio, as towards. Never said I entered the city)
<Bounty_Hunter> I think this probably belongs to our targets.
* Livewire glances over it and nods. "Looks like it."
<Bounty_Hunter> Lets plant some mines on it to detonate it if they try to move it.
* Bounty_Hunter crawls under the shuttle and begins to plant mines under it.
* Alja stops before she reaches the city entrence's vacinity.
<Alja> ....the mines.
<Baberlus> I thought you had a plan, missie.
<Livewire> Got enough, bro?
<Bounty_Hunter> Yes. This will leave a crater when it's done.
<Alja> I don't have the fucking hoverbike. And they mined the enterences.
<Baberlus> Why not just set the mines off? Won't matter too much.
<Alja> Are you willing to risk alerting our bounty?
<Baberlus> Makes no difference to me, they're going to put up a fight no matter what--I mean they have four hunters on them.
* Alja nods, and backs away some distance from the mines, backing her bike away too. "Might wanna plug your ears...." She pulls out a grenade.
* Livewire remembers something.
<Livewire> ...Didn't Alja ask about my bike earlier?
<Bounty_Hunter> Yes.
<Bounty_Hunter> Why?
<Livewire> Huh. I wonder what she needed it for.
<Bounty_Hunter> I do not know. Where are those two?
* Alja tosses the grenade at the middle of the mine field.
* Livewire shudders. "Why do I get the distinct feeling we're about to find out?" He glances over his shoulder.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *the resulting explosion is enough to blow out parts of the wall on either side of the gate, rocking the entire village. Smoke rises up into the air as chaos and confusion results, African villagers running around, frantically trying to figure out what hpapened*
<Bounty_Hunter> ...What the hell!?
* Bounty_Hunter runs away from the shuttle toward the entrance.
<Livewire> *takes off after Hunter* ...Never mind. Am I the only person that even thought about stealth?
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *near the pubb, a couple of the targets have stepped out and are looking around. They seem to be on a moderate alert right now*
* Alja hops on her bike, and nods for Baberlus to hop on.
* Baberlus jumps on, guns drawn.
<Bounty_Hunter> There are the targets. *moves over to what of the huts, climbing on top of it's staw roofs*
* Livewire looks at them, and tries to think back to the pictures to identify them.
* Alja unholsters a desert eagle, and makes for the center of town, using the new enterence she made.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *one of the targets is that Warren guy that Alja brought up. He seems to be the main one looking around*
<Livewire> *slides in behind Hunter* There's the main target, right there.
* Bounty_Hunter aims the rocket launcher at the pubb entrance and fires. He grins ans fires, the rocket soaring. One of the targets points and all of them dive into the pubb as the entrance explodes, collapsing in
<Livewire> *gives a thumbs up* Nice shot.
<Bounty_Hunter> Lets route them to their shuttle.
<Livewire> Shall I go play decoy?
<Bounty_Hunter> Sure.
<Baberlus> If he dies more money for us.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *quick glimpses at the window. Warren is looking out, trying to find who is attacking*
* Alja slides to a stop near Livewire and Hunter, "Want me to make it happen?"
* Bounty_Hunter begins to load another rocket.
<Baberlus> I'll help you, Alja.
<Bounty_Hunter> Go for it. I'll keep pelting them with rockets.
<Livewire> ...Am I even here? Sheesh. *sets his rocket launcher down* Ok, let's do it.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *shots are fired at them from the pub. Looks like the Alt team spotted them*
<Livewire> Heads up! *hits the deck*
<Livewire> So much for infiltration. We get to do this the hard way.
<Alja> Some cover fire Babe! *she kicks the bike into action again, and heads towards the team, firing her gun*
* Livewire picks his launcher back up, cursing himself for forgetting more ammo, and aims.
* Bounty_Hunter ducks low, aiming the rocket launcher at the pub window. He pulls the trigger. Moments later, the entire pub rattles with the explosion and part of the roof caves in*
* Livewire fires immediately after Hunter.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *again, the pub shatters, this time the wall exploding in, sending debris. It looks like almost everyone in there is buried*
<Livewire> Heh heh, bullseye. Let's move in for the kill, bro.
* Bounty_Hunter grabs his assault rifle, jumping off. They begin to move in.
* Alja narrowly dodges some of the flying wall. "Bloody arseholes..."
* Livewire dives off, seemingly unarmed, and runs after Hunter.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *suddenly, more shots are fired. It seems that some of the team has already moved out and is moving for their shuttle*
* Baberlus comes out from behind the corner, firing at the fleeing team.
<Livewire> Phase one, check.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *the one named Warren shoves the one named Steven Frost out of the way, firing back at Baberlus*
* Alja turns after the team, firing from behind them
* Livewire reaches inside his coat and pulls out a small handgun. He fires at Warren - now Frost - six times before tossing the gun aside and replacing it.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *Warren wheels and aims something at the shuttle. A ramp lowers and he runs up it with the others on his team*
<Bounty_Hunter> Bingo.
<Bounty_Hunter> Keep firing, make it look like we don't want them to leave.
* Bounty_Hunter fires at the shuttle.
<Livewire> Your turn, bro. *spins the gun and fires at the shuttle - again, six times - and replaces the gun, firing again*
* Alja keeps firing as she drives
<Bounty_Hunter> Shuttle: *begins to power up. Some smoke from the explosions drifts by the shuttle, then it clears again. The shuttle ramp has already closed and is lifting up into the air*
* Bounty_Hunter hits the button to activate the mines on the shuttle.
<Bounty_Hunter> Bang.
<Bounty_Hunter> GM: *the shuttle explodes in a brilliant display. Fire and parts rain down all around them as their target is destroyed. The Alt Team has been terminated*
<Livewire> Bang, bang. *fires his now-empty gun at the shuttle*
<Livewire> NRP: Or rather, where it used to be.
<Bounty_Hunter> To Be Continued
