Background

Valen's father, Jolan Lankin, was a Knight of Navarro. During one of his missions he fell in love with a girl and the two had Valen. Afraid of the risk that comes with being a knight, the two moved their new family to Rukon. Both of his parents died while he was young, leaving him with a small shack and little money. Heartbroken and alone, Valen decided to get as far away from Rukon as he possibly could, the trip was long and difficult but he eventually found himself in Lenil on the continent of Matias. The village welcomed the orphan and began to teach him the ways of surviving the land.

Valen eventually got his own home and become permanent members of the village, contributing to hunts and food preparation like an equal. Taking up a sword and a shield, he would often play the bait to lure out the beasts that the others would then ambush. It was a dangerous role, one that parents surely would have fussed over, but it was very important to the village, so it was very important to Valen as well. Though very satisfied with his life, Valen eventually decided to travel back to Navarro with another from the village in search of more information on his father's lineage.
