Zayne was a Maka with a great many deeds under her belt but something happened a few years into her Maka stint (around 14 years old physically) where she began to act strangely. She began to become more harsh and when she fought foes she began to take them out when she did not need to do so. By the time she was 15 she began to slowly descend down a path that concerned the other Maka, listening to her partner more and more.

Soon a triggering incident caused her to fall around the time she was 16 and she has been frozen ever at this "age" physically. It is clear it is something to do with children and women, causing her to snap and feel that justice is not enough, listening to the words of her partner on her shoulder that likes to hide in the shadows. Eventually at went AWOL and joined the Cobalts looking so a "way to deal with evil completely" and crossed the line by killing the first time.

After many years down the road, she worked for Sunny and the two began to turn the world upside down. This led her to becoming pregnant and that led her to calming down and raising her daughter almost normally over the past few decades, which has somehow led to a normal Maka daughter. But now that Rainshine has become indepdent, Zayne has slowly begun to slide back into her old ways, perhaps expecting her daughter to deal with her.

Otherwise, not much is known about her - she has opted to use the Alder last name, refusing to give her real last name and has gone by Zayne, which many assume is her real first name. Much about her remains clouded in mystery, but might be found in old Maka records.
