Character Creation:

The Duality Wars

Step 5: How To Get Attack Moves and Special Moves?

Attack/Special Moves:

How to get them:

First off, the amount of moves you will begin with OVERALL will depend on how many points you have in the Energy Stat.

This does not count special moves just yet. So if you put 7 points into Energy, you will have 7 Attack Moves. The Energy Stat determines the amount of moves a Character begins with.

The Luck Stat, in addition to being mysterious on it's own, is what determines turning Attack Moves into Special Moves. Essentially, for every 2 Luck, you will turn 1 of your 7 Attack Moves into a Special Move.

So that means 6 Luck gives you 3 Special Moves if you have 7 Energy. In the end, you will have 3 Special Moves, 4 Attack Moves.

Later on, when you can bump up your Luck to 8, you can transform another Attack Move to another Special Move if you wish. (Luck is not a stat that Mods have to move up stat wise to 9, FYI)

----

How they work:

Attack Moves:

Basically, you can make any move you like, but attack moves have to follow a basic pattern. They must have:

1 Attack Feature, 1 Defense Feature, and 1 Misc Move.

That means an offensive move that does damage, a defensive move that protects yourself in someway or others, or if your class allows, buffs yourself, and a misc. move that depending on your class can do anything. (mages heal, etc. Think inside your class).

Just remember, once you use any part of your move, the entire move is considered used up until you use Stamina Points to revive the move for the session. The amount it takes to revive the move varies from move to move depending on how powerful it is. Usually it is 1 - 3 Stamina Points.

Special Moves:

The special moves work a little diffferently in that they can do anything - they are 3 sets of moves that can do anything. These are the moves that

Augment you, Allow for teleporation (TAW5 type move), etc.

These are essentially considered special moves because they do not fit the attack, defense, misc. mind set and work differently. For your class type they can be very helpful if you can think outside the box, or just your character in general. The amount it takes to revive the move varies from move to move depending on how powerful it is. Usually it is 1 - 3 Stamina Points.

----

Limit Break:

If your Strength is maxed out, you will begin with a Limit Break, which is a one attack move, or defense move, or misc. move, that you will create that does devastating attack, defense, or misc. - think FF7.

It is when your character pours all their power into a devastating move to wipe out an enemy at the risk of wearing themselves out, or to heal the party (if your class type allows it), or to do something. The GM will let you know when it unlocks. Your RPing exp is put into a pool and used for all your characters LBs.

If you do not have a Max Strenth, you will eventually get a Limit Break as you level up, so not not worry. Some mods can unlock special Limit Break types, so keep an eye out for them.

Note, that you have a Limit Break Capacity so even if you have a lot of LBs, you might not can use them all, in which case the GM will ask if you want to swap them out.

---

Restoring Attack/Special Moves:

The way you restore your Attack/Special Moves is with Stamina.

When you use a move, you pick which part of your move you want to use, since there is 3 sections.. That means, if you have a full 7 Energy and 7 Stamina, you can have at max 14 "moves". Note, normal attacks and strikes are fine and do not count toward using up energy - I am talking about the attack moves and special moves.

It will depend on how much your move's stamina recharge takes. I will list, next to your move's name, the amount of Stamina Points it will take to recharge it. It usually takes between 1 -3 Stamina Points based on how powerful it is.

You can also opt to tie your Racial Traits into moves to make them stronger, and use up some of your Traits along with it. Just note that will burn them up as well when you use a move and use up Special Points. (You need to be sure to have them).

So you have to think stragetically with your own moves, pick the part of the move you want to use (the attack, defense, etc) in a situation that is most important, and so on.
