As Proto Man stood on the porch, pondering the many ways he could have beaten X1 two days ago at their Thumb War, he absently tugged at some of the glue that was still stuck onto his mouth. Light had found it fitting to leave it there, so far, and had refused to take it off.

The wind changed and his scarf began to blow ferciously and the sky darkened and lightning zapped across the sky, followed by thunder. Proto noted the change as unusal, and he suddenly had this feeling of dread, if you could call it. Just as he was turning to go back into the lab, he was hit by a blast in the back and smashed into the door, sliding down to the ground.

Managing to roll over, he saw the devil himself, standing there, laughing evilly as lightning flashed behind him. "Bass.....you lucky bast...." Proto began when Bass punched him across the head and threw him off the porch, grinning wickedly to the crunch his body made when he landed. Jumping down beside the robot, he pulled Proto up by his scarf.

"Bet Mega dork would just go nuts knowing that I had enough power to rip his brother into tiny pieces. Say....I could mail him pieces of you each week. That would be lots of fun, wouldn't it?" Bass said and crackled with laughter.

"I personally don't find that....very funny," Proto snarled and blasted Bass back, who only took a few steps back. And he seemed angry. "Oh shi..." he began when Bass blasted him and he slid across the yard as the rain began. He half wondered, as he shook his head to stop the little birdies from flying around, why the alarms hadn't gone off yet to alert everyone.

"As you can see, Wily has upgraded me greatly, and with the new power I got from that evil energy source, I'm unstoppable. So you and your brother, nor anyone else can stop me!" snickered Bass as he walked across the grass, the rain pouring down all over him. He didn't seem to notice, unlike Proto, who was on the wet grass, getting his prize scarf wet.

"You were always a little.....cocky weren't you...Bass?" Proto said, spitting out some battery fluid and stood up, smirking at Bass. "Too bad for you I don't like to be mailed," he added and blasted one of the lab's windows, the alarms going off and the defenses turning on. Proto dived for cover as traps sprung, catching Bass off guard.

Bass blasted the traps out of his way with ease and glared at Proto as Mega Man teleported between them, fully armed. "Bass?!" he said in surprise and glanced at Proto, who was charging his own blaster, seeming a little dazed. He narrowed his eyes as he turned back to Bass. "Why have you come here?"

Laughing, Bass glared. "To destroy everything about you...." he stated simply and blasted at Mega Man, forcing him to dodge out of the way. The two started trading shots as Proto tried to get a shot off at Bass. "Is that all you got Mega twirp? I've been upgraded so much this isn't going to be a fair fight..." taunted Bass as he blasted Mega Man back across the grass, which was wet and caused him to slide even further away.

Proto fired and caught Bass off guard, who was twirled around by the blast, and came face to face with him. "You..." Bass said, his voice like venom. He blasted at Proto, he dodged out of the way and blasted at him. By then, Mega Man was back in the fight and blasted a shot at Bass too. The two blasts hit Bass and sent him stumbling back. "Perphaps I did under estimate the two of you combined. Time to show you, Mega Man, the true meaning of power as you soooo like to put it!!!!" Bass screamed in rage, his vision turning to a thick red haze.

He leaped in the air and exploded powerful energy blast at the two of them, catching them both off guard, sending them crashing inside the lab. Mega Man shook his head, dazed. But by then Bass had entered the lab and grinned evilly. He leaped in the air again, and started to charge his body, and then flung a huge energy bolt at Mega Man, sending him flying through the lab, crashing through lots of stuff and smashing into some of Light's prized materials.

Proto jumped Bass, who blasted him before he made it half-way, sending the robot stumbling backward. He then followed it up with activated his Jetpack (Treble attached to him), and rammed Proto, crashing him into the wall, and then shocked the robot with a ion bolt, disabling him. Turning around, he caught the blast of a charged shot of Mega Man, who was breathing heavily, battery fluid stewing down his body.

Bass chuckled and fired another blast at him, which the robot jumped with amazing speed and fired off two quick shots at Bass. "You may be stronger Bass, but so far I haven't seen any true power. You are sick with rage, give up....Light can help you!" Mega Man told him, but while he was talking Bass took the moment to blast him back, smashing into the computer, blowing it up to bits.

"Naive...Naive Mega Man......I told you that would be your downfall one day....looks like it was true. God I love being right..." Bass told him, charging his blaster for the finishing kill when he was jumped and blasted by a robot. Trying to throw whatever the hell it was, Bass tripped and landed on the ground. Rolling over, he managed to get his attacker off the floor, but still got blasted a few times before he turned around to see a new robot there. "What the hell are you?!" yelled Bass angerly.

"I'm the hell X1, and you are?" the robot said and threw a table at Bass, catching him off guard, causing him to stumble backward. Meantime, Mega Man had managed to get back up, and shook his head, trying to clear his vision.

X1 fired off another blast at the inraged Bass, who grabbed the wall and ripped it off the ground, causing the roof to cave in some and threw it at him. "Yuh oh..." X1 muttered and dodged, firing another blast at Bass, who began to leap up in the air, charging. "Oh no you don't!" X1 yelled, grabbed another wall and ripped it out of socket and threw it at Bass, stopping his charge in time. The roof began to fall in. "Bad idea...." muttered X1.

Bass recovered and blasted X1 backward, but by now Mega Man was back in the game and rammed Bass into the floor. "NO MORE, BASS!!!! THIS ENDS NOW!!! I TRIED TO REASON WITH YOU," Mega Man yelled and blasted Bass and began to fight like he had never done before, landing punch after punch to him, and kept blasting, using materials nearby to add to the fight, "BUT YOU NEVER LISTEN AND NEVER WILL!!!!!! BUT THIS IS THE LAST TIME YOU'LL EVER HURT ANYONE AGAIN!!!" Mega Man fired a charged shot at point blank range in Bass' face, sending the robot stumbling backwards.

"Oooooooooh Mega dweeb, you finally show a spine," Bass snickered. He stood up, and leaped in the air and surrounded the room with blast fire, them all hitting Mega Man, blowing holes in his armor, leaving smoke rising up and the smell of burnt wires and battery fluid. "But I'm afraid you're too weak now to ever STOP me!" he taunted. Pointing his blaster at Mega Man, he fired a charged blast, sending Mega Man stumbling backward.

"DOUBLE UP!!" yelled X1 as he tackled Bass from the left side, and Proto Man, who had recovered, tackled him from the right side, both of them smashing Bass inbetween them. The two blasted him at once, and Bass finally began to show signs of true pain, smoking rising from his body. "ENOUGH!" he shouted and charged his body, blasting them both with a super blast, sending them crashing into the walls on either side of the room, the roof finally caving in all together, burying them.

Bass leaped through the fallen portion of the lab, snickering. "Hee hee hee, I destroyed them all!" he said, the red haze fading finally. "Well, I'll enter the rest of the lab and get the stupid supplies Wily wants..." he muttered and walked over the rumble, entering the rest of the lab still standing up. He ran into Light.

"B-B-Bass...what have you done?!" he exclaimed. Bass roared in laughter.

"Beaten all your robots combined. You're finished now, Lighty..." Bass snickered and banged him to the floor as he continued on, but suddenly was kicked in the head, stumbling backwards. "Roll?!" he shouted in surprise. It was Roll, Mega Man's sister.

"You killed them all!!!!!" she shouted in anger and punched at Bass, who easily side stepped, snickering. He gently picked her up and threw her aside. Roll slumped, defeated, for she was a simple cleaning robot.

Bass was about to continue on when he was jumped by Mega Man, and the two went rolling down the hallway and back out to the ruins of the rest of the lab. "Oh Mega Man....you are truly a pain in the ass...." Bass said, the red haze returning. He picked the robot up and flung him across the ruins and into a lead pipe sticking up.

Mega grabbed the pipe and charged Bass, throwing it, and then fired a low blast. While Bass caught the pipe, the blast caught him, sending him backwards. The two charged each other and locked into combat, the other struggling with the other. Bass picked Mega Man up and body slammed him over his knee. Mega reached up and began to crush Bass' neck.

He threw Mega to the ground, but the robot jumped up and tackled Bass though, pinning him. Bass easily broke the grip and flung Mega up into the air, stood up and punched him as he came down. "This isn't anymore fun, Mega Man...." Bass said, feigning disappointment as he leaped into the air and began to charge. Growling, Mega Man jumped into the air and blasted Bass as he was doing it with two quick charged blasts, causing Bass' on attack to ram him in the inside, damaging Bass greatly. "ARRRRGGHHHHH....." he muttered and saw his power level was running low. Not only that, but his armor was charged and broken, ready to fall off at any moment. Fortantly for him, so was Mega Man's. He was so close to victory.....he just had to give in completely to the evil source in him, the true power.....

Closing his eyes, Bass began to light up, and when he opened them, they pulsed with energy. "Good bye, Mega Man....I am finally about to show you the meaning of true power.....I am the ultimate robot ever created, your better....say good bye to the old Bass, so hello to your death, your destruction, the harbor of doom....." Bass roared and suddenly was blasted from behind, but he didn't lose his state, but simply turned around.

"I hate boring speeches of world domination and hatred...." X1 said. Roaring, Bass fired off a super charged blast at him, sending the robot flying backward. But Mega Man got his chance and blasted Bass over and over as he turned back around. But before he could fire, Proto Man appeared and began to blast him too. All three robots were blasting him.....and the power source was fading.

"NOO!!!!! I WILL CRUSH YOU!!!!"" screamed Bass and gave into ultimate insanity, the ulitmate power, and used his life energy and blasted at Mega Man, hitting him head on, ripping through the levels of armor he had on and sending him crashing to the rubble, the rain pouring inside him. Bass, himself, felt the power leave him, but his insanity stayed. "I DID IT!!! I KILLED MEGA MAN!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" he laughed madly. Proto Man stared in awe and ran over to his brother, shaking him.

"C'mon Mega, don't do this to us....c'mon...." he said shaking Mega Man, but there was no indication of life from the robot. Growling angerily he turned back to Bass, he was laughing madly. The evil power source had completely left him, destroying itself with Bass' ego and hatred for Mega Man, and now Bass was here, insane, and about to die himself.

Suddenly Bass got control of himself for a moment, grinning evilly at Proto Man, and teleported away, leaving X1 and Proto Man alone. Light ran out, followed by Roll, who was seemed to be crying almost. Proto stared at his brother and roared in anger, teleporting off himself.

Bass arrived in the labortory and slumped to the ground, feeling his battery fluid running all over the place. He slumped to the ground, and he heard running towards him, far...far away in his head. Somebody picked him up and he could feel himself being thrown on a table.....being worked on, yes, being repaired? But it didn't matter anymore....he had killed Mega Man....he had succeeded in what he always wanted to do....but now that his insanity had vanished on him, all he felt was a strange feeling....like he about to die for nothing.....and yet, for everything......Damn....he had forgotten the Doc's supplies....sometimes he just got carried away.....But it didn't matter now, he had killed his master's rivilary....hopefully Wily would find a way to create his Reploid.....because he could feel himself slipping....slipping........*

Dr. Wily felt himself reaching for a bottle of alcohol to stop his shaking, and to go to sleep, and he remember how Bass chided him for always drinking.....he stopped, and sniffed. Was he going to cry? Over a loss of a machine??? .....A machine that was like a son to him, and he never even saw it when Bass had lost it......

Sitting down in the chair, Wily bowed his head. He wanted to do SOMETHING for Bass....but his memory was gone now. And with Bass' memory core gone, what good would it do? But then an idea hit him, and hit him hard. "That's it!!!" he said and bellowed for Hacker Man. The scared robot came running in. "Get the supplies we have, all of them. We're going to rebuild Bass.....into a Reploid."

The attack team teleported outside the Maverick HQ. X, Zero, Beacon, Starblade, Zader, and Death Star all checked their weapon and there stats. X and Zero broke off together, to tackle the main artilitary while the others snuck inside to wipe out the Mavericks.

X turned to make sure Zero was ready. He gave a slight nod and the two Hunters continued on, and met the Mavericks head on. Two Mavericks blasted at them. The two Hunters fired off two shots and killed both of them.

Heading on, the HQ's defenses began to fire at them. X fired off a shot, blowing up a section of the laser guns, as Zero ran in closer, trying to plant a bomb on the wall to wipe more of the defenses, but got shot in the chest, sending him flying backward. X cursed and forward to help his friend, blasting his way through. By the time he reached Zero, the Hunter got back up. "Are you okay?" asked X.

"I'm fine....just got careless." Zero threw the bomb on the wall and it blew on contact, wiping out most of the gun turrents firing at them. "Lets get a move on." The two began to scale the wall, heading up to the main entrance, X firing at the gun turrents as Zero reached the door. Zero sliced a hole in the door and stepped in, immediately ambushed by the inner defenses. Two Maverick drones fired their lasers at him. Dodging the two, he slashed them to bits with his sabre as X appeared behind him.

"Okay...." X muttered, looking down at the sketchy map of what they thought the layout of the base was. "We need to head down a few levels, and find the only elevator that will take us to the top floor of the base. It's heavily guarded, of course, because that will be where they keep the Maverick Virus..." X informed him.

Suddenly the Comm beeped. X bent down and picked it up. "Commander X.....this is Captain Death Star. We are in the base. Beacon was badly hurt however. I don't think he's going to make it if we don't get him back to base soon. His...teleporter has been damaged also." X considered the problem. The only way to get the fallen Hunter home was for another Hunter to teleport him back to base and that would mean the Hunter would be out of the mission for a total of 20 miuntes...plus he'd have to catch up with Death Star and them...

"Have Zader teleport him back to base and move on. Zader can catch up to you two later," X told him and switched the comm link off. Looking up, he noticed Zero was at the end of the hall, battling some Maverick drones. Rushing over, he caught up with the Hunter. The two began to work their way to the right on the floor and came to an elevator. Stepping in, Zero hit the lowest floor, which was underground, and they began to head down. A few moments later there was a terrible screeching noise of metal grinding and the elevator began to fall at a rapid rate. "NOT GOOD!"

Zero grabbed his sabre in a blinding motion and sliced a hole in the roof and leaped up, punching the hole completely open and landed on the roof. "COME ON!!!" he yelled down at X. The azure Hunter leaped up a few seconds later, grabbing onto the side of the wall, as did Zero. The two watched the elevator smash into the ground. Zero looked up, scanning for any signs of Mavericks. There was. Three spider-reploid looking Reploids were crawling down....that were 5 feet big. "Oh....." muttered Zero and let go of the wall, landing on the rubble of the elevator. As he broke down the doors to the bottom floor, X landed behind him. The two ran in as the spiderbots landed.

"Errrr," growled X and began to fire at one as he backed up. He could hear the sound of Mavericks coming up behind them. Zero pointed behind them and took off, leaving X to deal with the eight legged company. Charging his blaster to a Level 3, he fired at one of the spiderbots legs, blowing up four of them in a row, sending it crashing to the floor. It began to fire lasers.

Turning to the other two, X fired at the roof, causing it to cave in on the, burying them and crushing the wounded one to bits. One definately down. The rubble exploded up and one spiderbot began to move toward him, while the other one layed there, smoke rising from it's body. It took the main blunt of the rubble.

X leaped backward as the spiderbot tried to impale him. He was charging his blaster when the spiderbot exploded and he could see Death Star and Starblade. The two rushed past him and helped Zero finish up the Mavericks. The four of them then began to move down the hallway, carefully working their way past many well trained Mavericks, until they reached the elevator that would take them to the top floor. By then Starblade was damaged and dented, breathing hard. But they couldn't teleport out now, this deep into the base.

The four stepped into the elevator and it speedrushed up the top floor, opening up into this huge complex with a computer system in the middle of the room. Zero whistled. "That's huge. The Maverick Virus must be in there...." he said.

"Indeed it is...." came a voice, which echoed throughout the room. X immedately began to track the room for any signs of a Reploid.

"What do you plan on doing with it? Recreate Sigma?" asked Zero, stalling the Maverick Leader.

The voice began to laugh, evil, cold laughter. "Of course not. Sigma has been defeated four times and couldn't finish off any of you Hunters if his life depended on it. I'm going to inject the virus into me. You see, Sigma's true form is that of a computer virus. By injecting the virus into me, with a special anti-virus on hand to keep Sigma from taking over my mind, I will become the computer virus, and will be unstoppable..." the voice answered, closer now.

"That's insanity speaking there, pal. The Maverick Virus isn't some play tool. It'll dominate you and Sigma will take over..." Zero taunted.

"So you think, Zero. But I know what Sigma knew," the voice began, somewhere to the left of the computer. "Interesting, isn't it? Great famed hero Zero....want me to tell your friends....or do you?" Now the person was taunting Zero. X glanced at Zero, a look of confusion on his face.

Zero felt a icey feeling in his chest. "You're speaking lies, pal!" he snarled and ran toward the computer. The computer switched on and blasted Zero backward, sending him skidding into a wall. X charged his blaster and the other two Hunters armed themselves too. The computer did nothing more, however.

"Lies, Zero? Truth, Zero. And the truth always hides behind a lie, Zero. You're hiding behind that lie!" the voice accused, from behind them now. X, DS, and Starblade spun around and saw a shadowed figure, who looked all too familiar. The figure stepped into the light and revealed it was Sigma, but the eyes looked different. "I know all that Sigma knows because I took over Sigma's body. What I am, you'll never know. But I will not let you four stop me from achieving my goal: The Maverick Virus!"

"Why didn't you become the Maverick Virus when you took over Sigma?" asked Zero, as he joined the three Hunters.

"It's too complicated. I transferred it from this body to the computer. As we speak, I am cracking down its defenses to become one with it...." the thing told them, charging up Sigma's cannon. "I'm afraid, however, you must all die..." It fired the blast at Starblade and blew him up to bits. Death Star rolled for cover, firing a blast at "Sigma". X and Zero both dived seperate ways, X also firing while Zero got in closer to slash it.

Zero managed to tackle "Sigma" and slashed it, but the thing fired a close-range blast at Zero, sending pieces of his armor scattering, as well as sending Zero smashing into some crates. X and DS both fired to shots that hit it while DS drew his sabre. He leaped at "Sigma", slashed it, and then propelled backwards off him. It blasted DS, who crashed into the floor, holding his side in great pain.

X blasted it at close range, scattering pieces of it's armor around. Blasting another blast, he skidded backwards and jumped over a blast from it. Turning his back to the computer, he saw an all too familiar face on the screen. The face of the computer virus Sigma, talking, but no words coming out. It seemed as if it was trying to get out...He got blasted in the back by the thing posing as Sigma and stumbled forward some. He watched Zero slash it. Knowing Zero would keep it busy, he aimed his blaster at the computer screen and fired a Level 3 shot, blowing up the computer to bits, causing the entire to room to explode in light, and the floor began to shake. "We gotta get out of here...I set up a chain reaction!!!" shouted X to DS and Zero, who were busy battling the thing.

Death Star leaped backwards and looked around. "This entire floor is about to be destroyed. We can't get out the way we came...." he muttered. Zero was still battling "Sigma", not caring about the current situation. X sighed and looked around and blasted the roof to bits, creating a hole. "Sir, we all can't escape out of there with the thing still fighting," DS said, pointing at "Sigma". X nodded and sighed. Suddenly Zader appeared and tackled it.

"GET OUT OF HERE!!! I'll handle it!!!" he shouted. Zero, reluctantly, followed X and DS out of the hole on the roof.

"Our teleporters will work now. Lets teleport out of here!" X said and the three teleported as the top level of the Siberia base exploded, destroying it, blownig up the "Sigma" and the remains of the computer. The rest of the base remained intact, but the Mavericks within escaped.
