Background

Little is known about Thomas - he keeps his cards close to his vest. Having aided the team throughout the journey in Navarro and Nuege, Thomas revealed he was an agent of the church who apparantly had access to the texts and prophecies regarding the Angel and wished to see for his own eyes what is truth. He has made it known that if he believes for a moment the Angel will make the final prophecy come true - the destruction of Tareh - that he will act against the team, but for now he seems to genuninely help them, even to the point that he is know an enemy of the church.

During the battle with the fake Harbinger, where he revealed to the team that it was really Cletus, one of the four god generals, the team learned that he was the son of one of the other four God Generals and was expected to take his father's place one day, having been groomed to become of the Arch Bishop's top four agents. This might explain why he has had access to so many hidden church documents that common agents of the Church do not have access to.

He began to fall in love with Zeal Silas as they traveled, his interest in her only rivaled by his interest in the prophecies surrounding the Angel. Eventually he managed to win Zeal's heart over and take her as his wife, and even got her pregnant. However, his obsession with the prophecies began to take a turn for the worst as he knew worst ones were coming and tried unsuccessfully to change even one prophecy for a different outcome. Eventually, when the team learned the Angel's true identity and everything tied to her, he stabbed Anne, who was separated from Jean at the time, and was thrown off the team by the others. Now he and Zeal work with Autumn, though for what reasons are unknown.
