Background

Zeal originates from the small village of Oas in southern Sinai. The daughter of a hunter and weaver, the girl was raised in a serene meadow lifestyle, raised to gather berries and medicinal herbs during the day. Knowing little of life outside those simple days to days, it came as a sudden shock when her village was overrun by the plains-dwelling monsters in an exceptionally violent migration.

Aid from the church knights and military would come too little too late, expecting a usual infestation rather than an outright attack, Zeal among other orphaned children and few refugees were coralled north where they would be examined and sorted. Without remaining family or friends to claim her, Zeal was taken into the custody of the church itself, a withdrawn and shy child unwilling to attach to others, but quickly noted for her prowess with a bow, having trained with her father and mother, and the ability to distinguish plants poison from medicinal.

Over time, Zeal would open up, her new home in the capital of Sinai itself, awed and amazed by the architecture and the makings of the city, a pearl amongst the desert, and grew up to be much of the same. At every opportunity the girl would take her leave to enjoy the city and the luxuries it provided to relax, to taste and to wear. Much of her allowance from working at the church would be spend on clothing and foreign fruits, her favorites the tropical of Matias.

She loves to be charity, often giving food she buys away to street waifes and poor families she encounters before ever making it back to her room within the church; decorated with trinkets and handmade animals. Continuing her training with the bow, she seeks to be unrivalled, threatening the security of even veteran snipers from militant countries, relying on style and instincts from her heritage rather than pure training, but also the way of the sword, tediously practicing a foreign style of wielding two smaller swords to defend herself.

As such she was deemed useful in what could be interesting, remote, sometimes even dire circumstances and sent to join the guards recently in the wasteland outposts. Unfortunate timing, perhaps, the outpost she arrived at would be wiped out shortly after her arrival by Empire infiltration forces, leaving her leaving on foot with the company of a single civilian blacksmith and her daughter. They would return to Sinai thereafter on their own means, forming a brief link that would fade as they returned to their own callings.

Some time having passed, Zeal has sharpened her skills and after the announcement of the tournament in Navarro, has taken her leave from duty to enter on behalf of herself and her representation to compete in archery, still unsure about trying her hand in swordplay.
