Legion Republic

History:

Legion Origins:

Around 900 CE, Legion history denotes that due to a tribe of women that began to attack various men in the area that they were forced to take action. While this history was not written until much later, and was carried on word of mouth from the era back then, it certainly conflicts with the history carried down by the Amazons from that time period. Warrior like and roving nomads, the men who lived in that era fought with the monsters and strived to keep their people alive when the women tribes in the same area suddenly set upon them, taking men and capturing them. The men from various tribes banded together and were driven to the west, while taking the women that were not part of the offending tribes, and capturing some who were in the battles that ensued. Leaving and following the Great Fire Spirit who guided them, they left toward a mountain and volcano region and made their camps there by 990 CE.

It was then they encountered the Hapians for the first time. Due to the events that shaped them, they had become a warrior tribe that hunted down and defeated others, and the Hapians moved off instead of getting entangled with them, which suited the warrior group fine. It allowed them to set up a nomadic society that could build places and move, seeking fights and continue to grow stronger. Due to the attack, they kept their women in subservient positions and never allowing them to rise in positions or take up weapons, but never enslaved them either. The only city they did establish was at the base of the volcano mountain, despite their nomadic tendacies, and this was in 1400 CE, for the Great Fire Spirit and those who were too weak or old to roam the lands.

The city, which would become the capital and was named Pyrrhic. It grew up and developed as families there reproduced and took on a rather unique look as materials from the volcano were used to make marble and colliseums for training for young warriors to join the roving bands, and it was styled, ironically, after Rome's designs back on Earth. By 1800 CE, they named themselves the Legion, for they continued to grow and get more male nomadic tribes to their side, and deflected raids from the female tribes to the east. Meeting with the Spiritual Monks and Magi to the east, as well as the Summoners, they learned more about their own abilities and how to fight and train.

When the Daemons showed up, many of the men found their males interesting and invited them to join their society and their women exotic, and since they were not like the attacking nomads, some wanted them as wives and places in their homes. The Daemons likely took this to their advantage in keeping open relations with both the Legions and the Amazons, which the warrior females called themselves by 2000 CE.

However, due to the raids by the Amazons, the Legion and the Amazon finally began to enter a series of wars that would shape the Legion into something else forever.

The Legion/Amazonion Wars:

A series of wars that never truly had satisfying conclusions, with both sides built up since 990 CE, in the year 2220 CE the Amazons, during one of their raids, was struck hard by a Legion group. The Legions, having allowed the raids to go on with only minor hits back, had been building up their armies and cities and finally hit with all their forces, decimating the raiding party and taking the women prisoner, returning the favor of rape and pillaging their men had suffered. The Amazons, enraged, launched their army that the Legionare army met in turn and the two sides went to war. Considered the first Legion-Amazon War, it lasted from 2220 CE until 2223 CE when both sides called it quits after the massive battle that left both sides reeling.

The Legion, having besides their capital, built a few minor cities in preparation for such a war, positioned them near the border with the Amazons, perhaps as a lure to them, but also as fortresses and supply points. And having built up their warrior bands into something resembling an army after all this time, they managed to put up quite the fight. Their troops, taking out their agression and anger on the Amazon women sexually for all that was done to their captured comrades, sparked a bloody conflict that left both sides in the wrong.

However, this would not be the end of it. The next Legion-Amazon War, called the Second Legion-Amazon War, took place twenty years later in 2243 CE and lasted 200 years, broken up for year periods, sometimes even up to a decade, before the war would resume. When it ended on 2443 CE, offically considered the end of the war despite long breaks before, was when the Legion shattered the Amazon forces for good and the Amazons were forced to retreat across their border. The Legion tried to push their luck but they were pushed back barely.

Bitter at having lost the advantage, the Legion focused on matters at home, having lost many of their men and allowed their sons and fathers to spend time with family. This period saw a rise in families and cities, and more forts along various borders. With trade with the Daemons and the Spiritualist, the Legion slowly began to build up an actual society, though they had not lost their nomadic tendancies yet. That would not come for a few more years yet.

The Third Legion-Amazon War came in 2991 CE and lasted until 3145 CE. Also having long break periods, this was the nastiest of the four major wars. One time the Amazon fortress was burned and one of the Legion cities were destroyed. Many Legionares were kidnapped and many Amazon warriors were killed. Once again, when it was over, the Amazon quit raiding the Legions for a time, but after 500 years resumed once more.

In the year 4,500 CE, after the conflicts between the Amazons and the Legions continued to be hit and runs on each side for a time, the Amazons came up with a new plan. The Legion, still being a band of warriors with their cities typically being only a place to rest and repopulate, and where they kept the young, old, and weak, where a people that were quite nomadic - they roamed and fought to keep themselves streghtened, looking for challenges. The Amazons struck such a group and left evidence that the Magi were behind it, in order to lead the Legion into an ambush to wipe them out. They selected the Magi because mostly at this period Magi were males and the Amazons despised them for their dicks and balls.

The Legion took the bait and many were wiped out or captured by the Amazons. The Legion never forgave the Magi, and it would lead them to wiping out the Magi in 4,745 CE and developing the current society they have today when they learned the truth. And when they found out the Amazons were behind the evidence planting 245 years prior, and also more in the following years, they were enraged. Focusing on building their new society and no longer being a roving band, the Legion transformed into a Republic much like the Romans, and in 4,800 CE the newly strengthened Legion launched an attack on the Amazons, and a 150 year raged on, with hardly a year's break. Both sides were devastated, but many Amazons died at the end, or were captured. And the Legion was left more victorious than not.

The Legion Republic:

The Legion Republic, developed after 4745 CE when they wiped out the Magi under misconceptions, is designed uncannily like the Romans in many ways. With a Senate that allows a voting and their cities designed with Roman designs, the Legion realized they needed to have a society if they were going to survive on Geyze with all the other societies building up. They could not survive with being nomads anymore. Putting forth effort into literature and schools, a new age began and many of their people began to devote themselves to educating themselves, not only in the art of warfare, but educating their minds. All had to serve 10 years in the army before they could serve in the Senate and the government, but all had to attend schools. But any could devote themselves to furthering themselves and writing.

Women were allowed to educate themselves as well up to a point, but they could not run the government or hold office or land. Except in the case of them serving in the army in RARE cases. Elite female groups were formed in 5400 CE after the Legion felt it was prudent to allow women who were skilled enough to serve them.

Soon the Legion became known as a place of culture and art, and behind the scenes a lot of time the wives of the upper class Legion men would work their husbands into doing what they would want. The only time the Legion would take slaves is typically from Amazons as far as females go, but after battles they would always take slaves from men or women if anyone was dumb enough to challenge them. They are always in a constant state of 'war' with the Amazons due to the raids on both sides.

Kumen:

With the arrival of the Kumens and the Space Port being built in 5800 CE, the Legion has sent many of their people up to Kumen to see what they can learn and bring back. They have also pushed recruitment to get more people to join their armies, and are always looking for more knowledge. Typically hotheaded due to the Great Fire Spirit, Legionares are known for the quick ease they get in trouble on other planets, but they are known to be some of the greatest fighters are serve as mercenaries a lot of times to make coin for the Legion Republic.

Women and men both have free passage in their territory if they have no ties to the Amazons.

When the Hapians put forth the Geyze Council within the last 100 years or so, the Legion rejected it out right for many years due to their outright hatred of the Amazons, but finally decided they needed to be on it to counter any vote the Amazons put forth, and also to make sure the Great Fire Spirit's wishes were represented. Also, since they were the most enlightened, to help bring more teachings to Geyze through agendas.

Legion Today:

The Legion, having a Kaiser as the leader of the Republic (not a Ceasar), to overlook the Senate and other bodies of the government - see Life on Geyze for more. The current Kaiser, Julius Guyus, is current 40 and leading his people toward a more enlightened era, while his two sons each have their own goals. His son, Jules Guyus (20) wants to wage a war on the Amazons and wipe them out and enslave them as sex slaves, and end them for good and his younger son, Hapes Guyus (19) wants to put the entire conflict to rest and end it for good, finding a means to end it for good. An unpopular view with the men but a popular one with many of the women in the Republic.

When the Kumenites began to mine for Spirit Fossils, it interested the Legion little since they do not fight with such tools typically, though it did anger them when they began to capture Spirits. They have made it clear that under no certain terms that fire spirits in their land will be captured or tolerated without reprisal. However, it is believed that there is talks going on for mining rights for their spirit fossils, in order to get them an edge in their war with the Amazons.

They have agreed to send men to the Geyze Academy, in order to show support and show up the Amazons.

However, after a war with the Amazons in 5990, that nearly brought everything to ruin, Qui Yi took over the Amazons in leadership and the Academy and Julius helped bring things to an end fighting wise. Jules agreed, due to his brother Hapes, to accept a treaty with the newly crowned queen and so far a tentative peace has been brokered.

Kaiser: Jules Guyus (20)

Brother: Hapes Guyus (19) (Father) Julius Guyus (50)

The Great Fire Spirit is the Great Spirit who guides the Legion Republic.
