The Duality Wars:

Spiritualists Factions

History:

Spiritualists Beginnings:

Around 3000 CE, living up in the cold and harsh lands where the mountains existed, many tribes of people found refuge in these lands away from everyone else. While many lesser ice spirits existed amongst the area, the people who lived there did so to seek out peace from other people and the craziness that rampaged across the lands of Geyze. And so the Great Void Spirit found them and aided them, guiding them along the paths of the mountains to the tops where the ice and snow was not so bad and they could seek spiritual enlightenment, or the void.

In a sense, four groups formed while up there over the following thousand years. The Magi, the Monks, the Summoners, and the Voiders. Though few know of the existence of the latter. The Magi, magik users who sought to be in tune with the spirits, magik, and the world of Geyze, sought spiritualization up in the mountains and formed their order of the next few hundred years, forming a unique Magi Order; this order is believed to have ties to the Magi on other planets that were once found across the Delta Quadrant, and some believe from the ruins that they came to Geyze to seek shelter from the wars going on across the regions in the Empire Wars.

The Magi, unlike Magik Users today, were advanced in and a tight fit order, mostly made of men with only the most talented of women, that pushed magik to it's boundaries, created advanced magik arts used today, and some that were lost to the times that were beyond anything used today. Their Order was built in a giant Cathedral type building on top of the mountains, and they wore robes and hoods. See the Information Tab to learn more on the Magi Order.

The Monks, seeking the void and spiritualist nature, looked to establish an order that allowed them to seek the truth of power within the body. Creating a unique power with the aid of the Great Void Spirit, and chkra and chi, they build their order in a great Tabiat style monastary, training and establishing an order for men and women to further themselves, wanting them to train their minds and bodies. Part of the training was to go out into the world and learn whatever they could and to further themselves, a tenant to this day, and to achieve 12 key parts of their order's history. See Life on Geyze for more.

The Voiders were a group who lived more on ground level in villages, and separated themselves from emotion and thought, and allowed spirits to inhabit their body, forming a void. They tended to the Spirit needs and took care of them, forrming the Village of Spirits. They would be the precursors of the Summoners, that would break off from the Village in 3900 CE and go into the mountains, and form their own order of summoning Spirits to use in battle.

The Summoners, once they broke off, disagreeing with the Voiders who only tended and let the Spirits use their bodies, felt that more could be done for the Spirits by calling upon their power to change the world. Forming a place in the mountains, a great castle, they practiced and trained, allowing anyone who was interested in learning, and they eventually by 4500 CE unlocked the ability to call upon the Great Spirits themselves instead of just the Void Great Spirit and lesser spirits. People from far and wide would come and see what they could managte.

All three groups used Spirit Fossils in various ways and the mountains were rich in them; though the Voiders got around needing them by opening their bodies to the Spirits.

The Rise and Fall of the Magi:

The Magi were reknowed for their abilities and sought after for their knowledge, Magik, and abilities. Some were invited into their courts, like the Hapians, or to train their people, like the Daemons. Others hated them, like the Amazons, since they were mostly a male group only, despite the fact there were some great Magi females. The Magi advisors they sent out were quite powerful and listened to. When the Amazons tricked the Legion into destroying the Magi Order in 4745 CE, it was a bloody battle in which the Magi destroyed many Legion warriors, but in the end, the sneak attack wiped out their Order due to the fact the Legion destroyed the entire building on them, wiping out the majority of them in one fell swoop.

The Magi that were not present scattered, and began to teach others, but soon the Magi knowledge and 'line' faded and the Magik Users today do not have much resembling them. There are no known Magi descendants alive after all this time, and even if there were, their blood would likely be diluted. Unless they are a few hundrd years old. There is often talk of making a New Magi Order and raiders are often stealing information from the Magi Order ruins, though it often ends bloodily due to the wards.

The Monks and the Summoners Separate From Geyze:

Following the destruction of the Magi, the Monk and the Summoners, despite being separate groups in the Spiritualist Faction, both made the agreement that it was wise to separate from the politics and the world of Geyze and focus on their own affairs. The Monks quit sending their people out for a time, and the Summoners no longer trained others in their arts. The Voiders continued to do what they always did - avoid.

With them separating from the affairs of people, they built up the cities in their land and began to grow, each of the two groups developing their societies and quirks. The Summoners as a society were loosely connected and decided to form a democracy, a voting group with each of their cities - Portside, Summoner Heights, and Mountain Path Village - that would elect leaders from them to form what would be known as the High Summoners, a Tribunal of 3 leaders that would direct the Summoner policies and politics for those who were part of their society.

By now however, it was clear that many summoners were not part of the Spiritualist due to so many learning, and did not fall under their jursidiction anymore. It was decided for the time being that the Summoner Society, as they called themselves, would let the Rogue Summoners, those not part of the cities or growing up in the Society, go about their own business due to the fact they were withdrawing from world politics.

The Monks, meanwhile, formed the cities - Seaport, Monk Heights City, and Mountain Entrance Village - and did something similiar. Still calling themselves the Monk Order for their society, they took a voting process of the best Monks who achieved the best of the Monk achievements while they were still open from each of the cities and made them the Elder Monks, 9 each, and had them vote on matters. With 3 from each city, they felt it would be an appropriate matter. Any who joined the Monk Order during this time had a chance to join the voting process after clearing the Monk trials once they were reopened.

The two sides would have remained, likely, out of politics, making new trials to accomodate new Monks since they could no longer go out into the world quite like before until the Kumens arrived. They WERE allowed out in limited doses to achieve the trials that were needed to help others and achieve worldly knowledge, but afterward they had to remain back in the Spiritualist Factions.

In addition, the Summoners and Monks formed an alliance and worked together to protect their lands, since they both served the Great Void Spirit.

The Kumens and the Reopening:

When the Kumens arrived and the Space Port was built in 5800 CE, both the Monks and the Summoners realized that the landscape of Geyze was changing. Agreeing that 1,000 years of isolation was much too long, they began to deal with the others again, forming alliances where necessary. With the influx of new races and blood interested in both of their orders, both of them got new blood and people and grew, and the old trials of going out into the world and aiding people for both groups were fully reopened (see Life on Geyze for more).

Both Orders and Cities blossomed and grew, and various races looking for life and meaning came. The Summoner Order also began to crack down on Rogue Summoners, making a squad that sought them out and attempted to bring them back into the fold, not wanting Summoners that wandered around without being part of their group.

Now opened to the world at large, Magik people began to go through the ruins of the Magi Order that were safe, or could be unwarded, and found a bunch of magikal swords, which would turn out to be the Gladius.

As both sides continued to prosper, when the Hapians proposed the Geyze Council, the Summoners and Monks both signed on, each as separate entities, while the Voiders continued to remain out of all affairs, remaining in their tiny village. Their hope on the council is to make sure the Void is represented, a space between emotions and dark and light.

Spritiualist Today:

Currently, there are three Higher Summoners, made up of two women and one man and 9 Monk Leaders, 4 men and 3 women. Their ages all vary. Referring to themselves as Summoni to differenti themselves from Rogue Summoners, who had begun to outnumber them, the Summoni remained up in the mountain, judging.

When the Kumenites or Kumenains as some call them, began to make mining operations and even began to capture spirits, the Monks and Summoners were amongst the most offended by the action. While the Magi were less so, needing the Spirit Fossil often in their own spells to make them more powerful, the previous two groups quickly debated forming alliances to deal with them if they ever became a problem. So far, Kumen does not seem to be leaving Hapian or becoming too big of an operation, but the Monks and Summoners have made it clear they will wage war if needbe.

When the Academy was propose by the Geyze Council, they sent officals, as did the Magi Order that is attempting to form.

The Great Void Spirit is the Great Spirit who guides the Spiritualist Factions.
