Session 162: Heading into Hell

Freshly marked, upgraded, and rested, with the Angel needing a day to rest, the group begins to near the island. Sia taking them along the coast where they discover a hidden cove. Getting a bad feeling from inside, Jean warns them about it, and Sia proceeds cautiously. After finding a man made dock inside, and suspecting slavers and possibly ghosts, Kaelan, Gemane, Ty, Sia, Mia, Charles, Truth, Wyrd, and Aschae head down into the complex, as they discover it.

They strangely find no one around, and when finally enterting into the prison cells, they find a lone, white haired girl named Sasha, begging for release. Kaelan works to free her, and Wyrd makes the job much easier by rotting away the bars. Sia, Mia and Charles step away to check out a tunnel leading to the surface. Gemane, Ty and Kaelan move into another room as they others head back. Before they do, Aschae teases Kaelan at possibly adding the girl to her growing harem of girls, Sasha taking this as serious and thinking Kaelan a slave owner. As they begin to move back, Seth spots a slaver ship entering the cove behind them. Rachael prevents him from torching it, and the others all prepare for a fight. Sasha vanishes during the fight and the group begins to fight off slavers with all their might, Seth needling down enemies with ice and arrow, Zeal slaying the most immediate dangers with her guided shots.

As the ship begins to try and escape, Seth leaps over with Tanan and they begin to fight the crew on the deck. Zeal snaps the mast with magik and the others begin to leap aboard, Moira heading below. Seth heads below as well as Rachael runs down, Leruste following. When the thieves reach the belowdecks, they are shocked to find Rachael captive with 5 men around her. Leruste uses his Time Magik, as does Seth, to take out the men charging for them, then Rachael, using fire, distracts and takes down one man, Seth piercing the skulls of two more with Ice, Leruste using his speed to take out the remaining. The slavers killed and Moira helping the slaves onto the Hope, the group settles down.

Meanwhile back in the base, Gemane, Ty and Kaelan find the treasure pile, which Wynne wastes no time in collecting, and a collection of male corpses. Taking them for slaves for a moment, Kaelan is disgusted until Truth's Light shines and reveals their actual status as slavers. Realizing the remaining slavers were killed by the only survivor, she has her own questions when Sashs shows up in her face, trying to see if Kaelan forces herself on innocent women. Unable to recount any such time, as her one time with Lilica involved the other girl draining her soul, Kaelan only gets angry. She demands to know how Sasha killed everyone else, not mad at her for the act, but mad for Sasha's accusing stare. Presumably unable to read anything in Kaelan, she relents and turns away without explaining. Aschae, walking in, grabbing up the girl and explaining that she can trust the group.

The group relaxes after, resting on the Hope as Kaelan and Truth clear the halls beyond of the dead. Job done, they all settle down to rest for the night, monsters to bountiful to allow overland travel in the night.

Session 163: The Center of the Church's Empire

Setting out at first light, and disguising their looks, Jean sets out of the cavern with Sia, Moira, Kaelan, Seth, Truth, Lenneth, Thomas, Zeal, Charles, Leruste and Tanan, they cross fields patrolled by Templars and arrive at the gates. Despite thier disguises, Lenneth is recognized, however, due to her status, they are allowed into the city without question. They enter and first head for the docks, where they try to secure a boat, finding very few, they are left to deal with an elderly man who owns the only three "junkers" left in the city. Kaelan attempts to use her merchant skills to secure a lower price, only the man's disdain for women in a working position causes him to double his price. Seth, stepping in as the Man in Black, plays the role of an alpha male and impresses the man who lowers the price back to something reasonable, forging a deal, they secure a boat for 1250 gold. They leave and realize they must earn this money, and cover the costs of staying int he most expensive city in the world.

Stepping into a Hunter's Guild House, they check the job board and find a myriad of tasks which they can take up, dividing up work, they choose to send for Nephilim and others from the boat to handle the in city tasks, and drawn to a task due to a mysterious red haired girl, named Knife, they also choose to head out to face a beast called the Goliath. Taking jobs, they head for a cheap inn, which still costs more then a kingdom's wages to stay at, and between Kaelan and Zeal, they are able to negotiate a deal on rooms, settling in for a bit, they divvy up tasks, Tanan, who opted to see about healer work earlier, returns. Soon they prepare to set out again, letting those who come after them use the rooms.

Session 164: Farmers and the Tigroars Who Ate Them

Travelling overland speedily with Anima D, Sia brings the group within sights of the village they are to help out with a Tigroar infestation. Deforming the Ore Beast and setting out on horseback, the group approaches the town only to find that it seems to be abandoned, no one guarding the gates. As they approach they discuss the situation with the gods, the Book of Prophecy, and other matters. Even though the group tries to quiet as they draw near, some insist on speaking past the point of safety, but to their luck, or misfortune, no one seems to be around to greet them.

As they step into the town, they spot a little girl looking helpless and scared, seeing them, or rather, Soma's head peering out of Zeal's bag, she screeches and runs for it. Rachael, Leruste and Seth persue, the rest find themselves facing arrows and ambushers, the villagers screaming about monster tamers attacking. Between Lenneth and Sia's vines and Kaelan's call to attention, the group manages to calm the villagers down with minimal damage to either side, Seth catching up to the girl first and relaxing her with pheramones. Once order is restored, they learn the tigroars, black in color, attacked in a strangely organized way, appearing within the town walls.

The group searches and finds and underground passageway, following it, they slink deeper and deeper into a cavern when they find a group of the sleeping Tigroars. They don't sleep for long, and soon the party faces an overwhleming army of the black felines. Finally in desperation, Lenneth and Sia form a vine barrier over the cavern the beasts pour through, buying them precious moments. Anne forms a Super Fireball which Sia ignites with a Gale Storm, creating a Super Firestorm which ravages through the caves and burns all the tigroars to cinders. Recovering a baby black tigroar as their loot, the group heads back up.

As they relax their guard, an artificial hole opens under Jean's feet, causing her to fall down into a pit. As the others respond by following, they see Jean being swept off by a dark figure, who collapses the entryway into another cavern, seperating them. The figure, a tall dark haired man with a red spear, challenges Jean to a fight. When he speaks of wishing to test her honor, Jean innocently puts Wyrd away just as the man starts to leap into a fight with her, sensing his time is short. Surprised by her move, the man tries to divert his lunge but stabs Jean through, Jean, in surprise and a sudden rage, grabs the man and begins to beat him madly.

The group uncovers the room to find the man being punished, and asking for mercy, when they recover Jean and Sia starts handling her terrible wound, with Jean draining the group for fast recovery, the man introduces himself as Crimson Spear. Due to Jean technically defeating him in combat, he swears alliegance to her and offers himself as her future husband. Finding the man no longer threatening, and mainly by Lenneth's word, the group doesn't outright kill the man for his offense, he himself begging forgiveness, not having expected Jean to leave herself so open, convinced she cannot be evil when so innocent.

Crim reveals he was able to follow them and set up his ambush because the group was so loudlty stating who they were approaching the town, he identified them and followed them into the cavern after they went below, setting up his trap, opting to test the Angel rather then help with his original goal of killing the Tigroars. The group rises out of the Earth and are heralded as heroes by the townspeople. They refuse their gifts as good heroes often do and head out as soon as possible. Moving northward, they find an ancient ruins.

Here a large explosion is heard and they see, rising, a giant beast, the Goliath. Gemane already fighting him. Also, landing injured near them is the red haired girl they once saw in the Hunter station in town. They rush to the aid of the girl called Knife, and the Goliath flees seeing a stronger force. They rest, waiting.

Session 165: The Knife and the Goliath

As the group rests, the ground shakes, and very quickly they find themselves fleeing the feeding hand of the Goliath as it rises under them. Slow to rise, Rachael and Zeal are eaten by the monster, the others all leap away and recover, but sensing their friends in dire need, leap, mostly naked, into action. Seth and Kaelan, having been standing guard in various ways, luckily find themselves equipped, Sia and Aschae begin to weave spells and Jean calls both Truth and Wyrd to her hands, forcing them into their true forms and fighting fiercely with them.

Learning that the beast has a belly full of acid, the group scales the beast and Sia has them target it's stomach, hoping to give their eaten friends a chance to get out, sensing them alive, Zeal and Rachael using magic to stay away from the dissolving mucus. Thinking late to summon them, Kaelan forms Anima T to join the fight, and while T works to fight the beast, Moira digs her blade into the beasts belly, Crim and Leruste having leapt up to fight as well, Crim finds himself helping with the stomach while Ler ignores the plan to try and stab the monster's eyes, finding himself dinner.

In a last minute combo, Knife flings her bag of explosives at the beasts head when all the remaining team members have leapt onto Kaelan's Anima Hand, T taking to the skies when the ground becomes too dangerous. Reaching height, the bag flies for the mouth and Aschae ignites it with Lightning, using Magik to try and decapitate the monster. The explosives work, but the head begins to regenerate.

The group combines their firepower once more and attacks the growing head, somehow overpowering the beast, Jean using an ultimate combination of Truth and Wyrd's powers, knocking it dead with her blast, but severly draining her. It starts to melt away, and T tries to keep it there, Gemane using her power while Lenneth and Sia try holding it with vines, giving the group just enough time to attack it's throat, freeing those captured inside. The beast melts away, and Jean tells them it's dead.

However, more danger comes, the group boards Anima D to flee when Sia summons it, and they find monsters swarming after them, younger Goliaths. Together, the team is able to take them out and defeat them, conquering the smaller monsters and fleeing before more can rise, they travel a mile before setting up camp. Jean, exhausted beyond measure, collapses, as do all the Marked as she drains.

They all awaken in the morning, and discover Knife has run off on her own, and taken Anima E with her. Using Anima T and C to catch up, the group rushes over the land and goes incognito near the city, realizing Knife has quickly learned how to use E, even it's personal size mode. They enter town and, agreeing that the girl will want the glory of handing in the Goliath finger as proof of her deeds, track her down. Forcing her into an alleyway, Seth Pheramones her and takes E back, and the group talks her into turning in everything with them, giving her all the credit for the Goliath, something she did not expect.

The group helps her turn it in, Knife parting ways, but Zeal, obsessed with recruiting the unwilling girl, heads after her. Lenneth takes Sia to prepare the boat and the rest go to the inn to rest for the night. Over the evening, everything begins to go wrong.

Session 166: The Festival of the Gods

Morning rises, and so do a number of problems. Having found Rachael coming home with the scent of, and the sight of blood on her, Seth confronts her and asks if she killed Knife. Zeal, having heard rumors that a female hunter was murdered in an alleyway, begins her investigation. Kaelan, sensing Zeal's movements and feelings, puts two and two together and warns Anne that Zeal is about to get herself and them all in big trouble. Rachael leaves quietly, Leruste finding he has to track her down.

Zeal's investigation uncovers that the girl known as Knife was named Revi, and worked to send money to her family back in Matias. Things Seth had tried telling them all in pieces the previous day. Zeal heads to a Templar station to see the body, and Kaelan takes a group of unreckognizables, Crim, Moira and Tanan to the Templar station to try and head her off. They arrive late, and Zeal enters and demands to see the body. Leruste appears and asks Kaelan to track Rachael with the mark, pointing her out, Rachael soon joins them when Leruste pokes about. Having Rachael, and sensing Zeal's panic, Kaelan tries to urge the woman to leave the Templar station before someone recognizes her.

Zeal insists on staying just long enough to recieve Revi's possessions, as well as get recognized. However, she leaves and Kaelan urges them all away just in time to avoid being identified, they return to the inn. Rachael, shocked by her own actions begs for reassurance from Zeal, who slaps her, and again from Nephilim, who ignores her. Driven near insane by the neglect of those she loves, she's only driven worse when Leruste keeps insisting that he trusts her and says she couldn't have done what she knows she has. Rachael becomes comatose.

Thomas interrupts the talks just after Crim declares he is going with Lenneth on her journey, deciding that the Angel has enough retainers. He leads them out and the Bishop demonstrates the power of the Holy Gem, using it to identify those with high level marks and sending a powerful blast of energy toward them. The group scatters, running and fleeing. Jean's group escapes on D, which SIa summons again and uses it to teleport them outside the city, they rush onward only to be stopped by Anima E. Revi, revived by Autumn, and the one to tell the Templars of the Angel's presence, claims her desire in taking the Anima. Having no choice but to let her go, T and C, piloted by Kaelan and Moira, allow her to leave, and they rush after D and the others, who pressed on to the boat.

Sia and Mia work fast with Aschae to get the boat out to sea when everyone boards. Sailing out to the waters, Sia quickly calls out for Gemane to teleport the ship away with the Light Stone. Gemane, urged to go anywhere but where they are, focuses and overflows her own power, teleporting them just after they narrowly defend against God General magic attacks. They appear in Azuhaha, where Sia sets harbor, the jump so powerful it breaks parts of the ship. Sia starts repairs as they set Gemane, Anne and Rachael, now all unconcious after the transfer to rest.

Lenneth's group, consisting of Tanan, Lucky, Seth, Crim, Thomas, Zeal, Carly, Lit, and Lilica begin to flee towards the boats, when they encounter Moira buried in the rubble. Unburying her, they move out to find the harbor all the more guarded, and a troubled looking Revi nearby. Following her into a bar to duck out of sight, the group moves in on Revi and Seth tells her many truths and sorrows for what happened to her, and between him, Zeal and Lenneth, Revi relents to come with them at least till they can take her to another harbor. The group gets a cheap inn and rests, awaiting the next day, hoping the harbor will clear.

Session 167: Two Boats, Two Destinies, Two Different Directions

Morning comes and Lenneth returns from an early check of the harbor, with some attendees. She reports both interesting and troubling news, a God-General has been assigned to guard the harbor, and the Templars definately know they are there, as the female with red hair in General armor happens to also have the Book of Prophecy with her. Knowing they must both get the book and get past the general, a plan forms. Seth suggests Moira challenge the honorbound General to a duel, and get her alone, where they can ambush her and take the book. Thomas adds to the plan with his knowledge on the general and also suggests that Seth can impersonate her to clear the Templars from the docks.

Moira sets out, challenging the woman, who seems amused with her. Seth idly notes this could all go wrong if the book reported their plot already. The woman accepts the duel when Moira goads her with the Angel's location. Agreeing to a more 'honorable' field of battle, the two exit the city to fight, while the group moves off to find a way out to ambush. They draw blades, and the General finds herself surprised when the new Mystifae talented fighter is able to dodge attacks from her invisible blade and score some blows herself. As the group gathers on the walls, Moira removes the woman's helmet after catching her off guard.

Speaking the signal words after another clash, Seth mercilessly fires a killing shot, which, thanks to Moira's distraction, scores a hit right through the woman's neck. All caught a bit off guard by such a successful blow, the woman stumbles and attacks the wall they stand on, sending them falling in a cloud of dust. The woman attempts to put on her God Ring, however, Moira stops her and takes it. Using the dust as cover, the group approaches the woman, and after Zeal attempts to insist they keep her alive, Seth takes the book from the woman with a well placed arrow and Wind Retrieval.

They put the woman down and begin to treat her injuries. Seth takes the form of the God General and dons her armor, sending the Templars off, though the woman's sword, Excalibur, mysteriously has vanished. Taking her back into the city and onto the boat, Thomas and Zeal keep treating her with Lilica and Tanan's help. The group sets sail, with the Book of Prophecy in hand and a goal of treating the woman and cutting her off from her Contracted God, Manus Dei. Thomas talks about the woman's past with Zeal, while the others settle down for the ride.

The Hope finishes repairs and Sia sets them on a four day course over the seas towards Nagev, where they will supply for a trip to Nuege. Anne, having risen and returns with Rachael's memories of the events that occurred erased, warns them not to remind her. The crew of the Hope set sail from Azuhaha, taking some much needed days of rest after all they have faced.

Date: 2389.9.31

Session 168: Noble Trouble in Nagev

The Hope docks in Nagev for resupply, as the boat settles in, Sia, having changed the name of the boat to the Destiny for now pays the dockmaster and the group sets out. Mercy heads into the market to restock the food stores for a jouney to Nuege while the others head off to see Lady Nicci. However, when they arrive at the mansion, all is not well.

The mansion seems abandoned, quiet, and just as Sia goes to try the door, Wyrd jerks her back as the handle to the door slides off, as though sliced. Aschae breaks down the doorway with a huge fireball, others begin to catch on that someone or something it awaiting them inside. Chasing the figure, the group is led upstairs and into Nicci's bedchambers. There they find Nicci tied up, the prisoner of a woman bearing a strange sword, familiar to some of the group. Sia identifies her as the Weapon they met in the desert of the Island Nations.

The strangely spoken woman offers up Nicci's life for the Angel's. After much disagreement, Jean gives in, offering herself. However, despite this, the woman seems unwilling to abandon her hostage to take Jean. As Templars begin to surround the mansion, Jean tips the scales, grabbing at the sword and taking a blow to her hand, allowing the others to drive the woman away, free Nicci, and begin their escape. Dropping down below climbing vines summoned by Sia, the group exits out the bedroom window while Aschae holds off Templars coming up the stairs. Having to face an oversized Templar, the combined efforts of Moira, Kaelan and Truth bring him down quickly, and the group runs for it.

Getting away from the commotion, the group returns to the boat without incident, though the Templars are searching for the Hope, Sia's forethought to change the ship name makes it hard work for them. Kaelan departs from the group once they board, Truth on her hip, to go retrieve Mercy and the supplies they need, while Sia gets the ship ready to go. Below decks, Leruste holds the sword of the woman who attacked them, having stolen it. About to toss it into the sea, he's interrupted by the return of the assassin. Ler struggles with the woman, who proves hard to touch even with mutliple people joining in to stop her, until Ty tackles her down and overpowers her, enraged by her earlier actions.

Sia ties up the girl, and El takes her in. Kaelan and Mercy return with the supplies, and after a headcount to be sure everyone is present, Sia takes them out to sea.

Session 169: Honor Amongst Angels

Lenneth's boat moves through the waters on the eve of a storm. The group readies for the storm together, Lucky captaining them through it. As a group they brave the wild waves and horrible winds, lightning, rain, and even sea life coming at them. No matter what Lucky attempts to do, entering the storm is unavoidable, even moreso, their direction, the ship being pulled along towards something. A shark washes aboard the ship and the group as a team takes it out, Revi getting in the killing blow due to a rebound push from Zeal.

Hurled onto a strange body of land, the ship escapes the storm, indeed, the island seems to somehow repel the storm. Realizing the significance of this unknown island, Lenneth calls everyone to a meeting about what she's learned.

Lenneth shares her memories with the group after forming contracts with those who have not yet done so. She does this, as she explains, to better let her allies understand why she does what she does, and why she opposes her siblings, the other gods. The group sits with her in a circle and they enter her memories, experiencing them as if Lenneth herself. They learn of Manus Dei's lustful mistreatment of her body. They learn of the meeting on the day the prophecy was decided. That Amazo destroyed the moon, forming the glittering. They learn many horrible atrocities.

Gartareh, before going away to expand his empire, set his children with the task of taking down the Angel. He mentions shielded locations, places on Tareh even the gods cannot enter, that the runes were placed in these locations to keep them safe for when the Angel arrives. Angelus seems to be plotting during the conversation, while Amazo calls for action, as expected. The slaughter of the "foxes" is ordered, the elves left alone to be persecuted by humans. The humans themselves kept alive as little more then livestock to the gods.

The group exits the memories, reeling. Cersei finds her faith shaken to the core and demands to be left alone, as Lenneth returns to consult the book while awaiting the morning, when they will explore the island, the others turn to drink.

Session 170: Angelic Split Part 1

A storm picks up as the crew of the Hope begin their sailing for Nuege. Quickly getting the ship ready for the sea, those with the strength to pull ropes join Sia and Mia in braving the ship through a storm head on. Using magick, Sia tries to protect the ship as they brave the waves, after a short while, they come upon a tower in the sea. Sia orders them into it, and Mia steers them into the strange building, out of the dangers of the storm.

Once settled, the group disembarks from the ship, Sia leaving her bodyguard and Mia with the ship, as well as her dragon, for once a little wary of a ruins appearing in the middle of a storm, as they had last encountered an army of demons in such an area. Jean leads Kaelan, Truth, Sia, Leruste, Aschae, Moira and Rachael down into the ruins. Here they find a lift which takes them deep, deep down into the waters. So deep in fact the place appears to be flooding due to pressure. Entering a tunnel, they are attacked by small mechanical dragons. Dispatching them, the group passes through into a large chamber with five doors. Two of which, when tested, seem to open for any marked, leading to hallways beyond holding special panels.

The other two, damaged types, put up a fuss, one even attacking Seraphim when tested, however, marked are able to open them again, as is Jean, and two more panels are found. Using the panels, the group finds they can use them to try and open a submerged door, however, the door is damaged so badly it seems unable to respond. Reasoning that the strange cables that they keep encountering around devices fuel their magic, Sia attempts to cross the cables and restore power. She succeeds, but is shocked straight across the room and into a wall, her heart stopped.

Ty brings her back to life by using Mystifae to restore her heartbeat. Sia, frazzled, seems more worried about Jean's feelings then the fact that she was temporarily dead. After the door opens, leading to another area to put the panels in, Sia suggest Aschae use her swimming and water breathing magic to clear it. She does so, going under and opening the pathway, then moving through to the other side, then using wind magik, she parts the waterway and freezes it instantly, creating a path for the others to follow. Everyone shifts to the other side.

Here they discover a new Anima, which Sia gleefully raids and starts communing with. The others notice a device with a large screen, words flashing through it, some in ancient. El recommends that the group take the black box inside the device and it's core, and head back to the ship. Sia, wary of being shocked again, moves to open a panel as Jean walks over to another device to look at it. The computer screams about an error as a sudden brilliant flash of light blinds everyone in the room.

Session 171: Angelic Split Part 2

Lenneth's group disembarks from the ship the following morning after they arrived at an unknown island. Treking across it, they find a foxyip watching them keenly, and following it, discover a small colony of foxyips, living in peace and eating from an ancient food making device. As they look around, Zeal and Seth notice a metal looking foxyip who yips at them commandingly. Seth starts following and the others soon follow the creature, despite Zeal's protests about blindly following things. It takes them to a prestine looking ruins.

There, they enter and are greeted by the systems which seem to react and authorize them based on being Marked. Heading to the end of a hall, they board a lift which Thomas gleefully activates, sending them down many, many stories down into the ground. When they come out onto a large room, they too find a strange device flashing information, a voice speaking in ancient they cannot understand. They also find a large white platform, which after some inspecting, Zeal blindly activates in interest.

In a brilliant flash of light, Jean appears to them, unconcious from the event, looking slightly younger then normal. The Marked feel something strange, feeling Jean in one place, and then another back with those on the Hope. Lenneth then repeats a previous prophecy, that the Angel would lead two groups on two different paths, and this seems to be the answer as to both problems. Having let it happen, Lenneth felt it was nessecary. With Jean present, the previously inarticulate voice becomes clear, warning them of an error. It then instructs them to remove the core and leave.

It warns to use a suit or shut down the facility first, however, Thomas goes to the core and takes it without protection, moving back to the others. Realizing the Gods will destroy the island the moment the cloak around it fails, they rush to the surface. As a team, especially at Cersei's urging, they rescue the 50 foxyips and their feeder, boarding the ship. Lucky sets sail and the group struggles to keep their ship afloat, thunder striking the ship, all seems lost.

They awaken out at sea, still afloat, but parts of the ship float around nearby. They find some, such as Seth out in the water and begin to recover. Fifteen of the foxyips missing. Lenneth comes out of the lower decks, holding a damaged Book of Prophecies. The team sets to work, trying to recover what they can before they seek a shore.

Session 172: Outcasts

Anne awakens on the Hope to inform the crew that Jean is gone from her mind. This troubling news is punctuated by the approach of a pirate vessel. The crew arms themselves and readies for a fight, only to find the ship raises a white flag. Tossing a box down to their deck after asking for Nephilim, the ship departs, leaving Nephilim with a clue on where to go.

Date: 2389.10.04

The Hope arrives at a sanctuary in the rocks, smoke billowing out the entrance to a cave. Searching the cave, the group finds that all of the pirates living there have been killed, and in an office they discover a dead body. Nephilim finds a journal which seems to belong to Pari, the slaver king whom the group has met before, professing to try to change the evil from within.

While Nephilim reads, others explore and find a boat which declares death to all slavers, and the remains of a ruins, appearing to be dug out by a Anima. As they decide to leave, a lone survivor, half mad is brought to them. Kaelan interrogates the man gently and discovers that Autumn was present here days before, having slaughtered the pirates and freeing the slaves in her campaign to change the world. They learn that Azhren and Faile are alive and well with her, and the group begins to depart back to the ship. Before they leave, Sia activates the Anima they recently discovered, divining it to be Anima J. After some practice with the klutzy Anima, Sia returns to the ship and they group sets sail.

Session 173: Wolpertinger

The Sea Fox finds land, Truth having been teleported from the Hope to the Sea Fox the previous day has begun to keep a younger Jean company. As they set ashore, Seth volunteers to lead a scout party into see what they can find, smoke in the distance telling them of a fire or a settlment. Seth leads those who volunteer to follow into the woods, after some ways, they hear the smashing of a bottle. This for some reason seems to disturb Seth, and he declares that the Wolpertinger is about.

Revi, deciding Seth is insane, goes off on her own, and soon the rest of the group leaves Seth behind as they head towards the signs of a nearby town. They approach the town and learn that some Hunters had been by recently to post jobs and even the job board seems to confirm the insane ideas of Seth, as it offers a big reward for the live capture of the Wolpertinger. Revi goes off to do other Hunter jobs.

Seth, returning to the boat, finds Jean and Truth on deck, some of the girls enjoying the sand and people generally relaxing. When a horrible, adorable chittering beast kidnaps Jean and takes her accross the island. Seth runs after her with Tanan, who's fox was also kidnapped. Truth tags along. They race after her but the Wolpertinger is fast. Meeting up with Zeal, Cersei, and Moira, the crew heads after Jean together.

They find a cave covered in traps, which Tanan constantly springs due to not thinking and sliding down into a pit, they find the Wolpertinger, who is everything Seth has ever claimed. He sits watching Jean change panties and bras, while drinking beer. Jean, completely unharmed, and Tanan's fox resting comforterably, they let the Wolpertinger go and head back to town, where Lucky brings the Sea Fox around for repairs.

Session 174: Worship

As the crew of the Hope sail along, Leruste ends up spotting a small island in the distance. Managing to convince the others to head there for free supplies, the ship lands, and the party finds a tiny paradise. Leruste, Sia, Parita, and Moira go exploring the forest, while the rest stay behind for various reasons. The group who go into the forest find out that the island is not nearly as uninhabited as it seems, and are ambushed by primitive natives. After calling out for help, Anne comes rushing to their aid. After unleashing some magik at the tribal natives, they surrender in a unique way, calling the Angel a god.

Anne, not wishing to play their little fantasy, walks away. However, the natives invite the rest of the crew to their villiage for a feast in their honor. Some elect to stay behind, while others come so they do not offend the natives. There, the villiagers try to give the party more than food, offering women as wives as well. Some dance with the crew, others try to mate with them, and in the end nobody aside from El and Moira have a good time. After Leruste makes Rachael angry with almost sleeping with a native, though not willingly, the natives begin to fear they are making their new gods angry and prepare a goat sacrifice. El and Moira, however, stop them.

Eventually, the party begins to leave, and several warrior natives offer one of their own to go. Kaelan tells them that their mission is too dangerous, and they leave, far too easily. El guesses that, because of this, one has snuck onboard. Sure enough, soon after she says this they hear the breaking of glass, and one of the natives has been discovered by Mercy. He is allowed to stay, though for how long, nobody quite knows.

Session 175: The End of the Beginning

The Hope makes berth in Eira's bay as it approaches the city. Ice seems to be flowing off the country of Nuege's shores as the heat continue to rise into Winter's Equinox. Sia, having prepared the ship under a different alias, begins to prepare her disguise, Kaelan running around capturing girls to get them dressed up and adjusted for being seen in public. The group decides who is staying and who is going on the mission overland, Sia's worries about the Hope fixed with the plan of Mia taking the ship along the shore with them towards Navarro.

Date: 2389.11.1

Anne leads her group off the Hope, having landed and spent the night at the docks. Rin, Moira, Kaelan, Rose, Charles, Sia, Nephilim, Gemane, Leruste and Rachael all set out from the boat. Mercy and Wynne move off to get the Hope resupplied while the others ready to shop for suplies.

On the other boat, Lenneth's team approaches the Empire's harbor. Lenneth provides a distraction, acting as a visiting God while the others drift in behind the boat, they slip out of the water and make their way to higher ground, on the way up, a simple lack of the Gale Burst spell and few creative minds actually working forces the group to get into a battle with some guards. Beating them, they race into the upper city and sneak their way to Dusk's temple, where they rest and don Empire Armor to better sneak about in. Jean, Seth, Crim, Tanan and Moira all donning armor, the team sets out towards an armory.

There they infiltrate the armory, looking for explosives they need to bring the harbor down, and getting through, load up on weapons and supplies. Figuring they might get caught, Crim loads a cart full of explosives. When they step outside, having taken a cartload raises suspicion and Jean tosses a bomb into the guardhouse, blowing it up. Crim sets the other bombs to blow and they speed out of the gates, leaving a massive explosion, and a huge distraction behind them.

Session 176: The Stinging Cold

Kaelan leads the group to get supplies, horses and a carriage while Aschae wanders away from the group with Ty. While getting supplies, Rose wanders away from the group and Sia, Charles, Leruste, Rachael and Moira rush off to find her. They find her surrounded by some boys and girls stealing the clothes right off her back. Scaring them off, they scoop up Rose and dress her up, their constant worried exclaimations upsetting Rose, she's soon calmed by Moira and Kaelan.

As the group gets ready to leave, Moira uses her gold to purchase an Omega Class Sword called the Whispering Grass. The others get ready to leave and Kaelan is sent to find Aschae, who has run into a brash nobleman trying to buy Ty off Aschae as a slavegirl. Kaelan urges her to wrap up, but Aschae expresses her desite to stay and save some elven slavegirls from this man. The group agrees to go, and loads the cart and supplies back onto the Hope.

Kaelan, Anne, Sia, Charles, Leruste, Moira and Rachael set out to the mansion and sneak in over the back wall with Sia's vines. Aschae, taking her time with the noble, breaks into a fight with him as the group finds the maids and after some convincing, and poor Kaelan getting a frying pan over the head, the group manages to convince the three girls to run, helping them and heading to the Hope, which circles around to them. Boarding, the guards realize what has happened, and despite urging, Aschae ignores the pleas of the others to run to them and get away. Since she refuses to come, Anne orders them to set sail, Sia taking the party further south, where they begin their adventure without Aschae or Ty.

Session 177: Left Behind

Racing from the destruction their bomb trick caused, Lenneth's heroes race towards the Imperial Palace, where a tossed bomb clears a giant chunk in the palace wall and the legions awaiting them. Racing over the rubble, the group encounters two major problems, the weapons they stole beep once and fully armed guards come racing in. While most cautiously switch to their old weapons, Seth chances trying to fire one of the magik shooters.

Thanks to his armor, he survives, however, the armor is rendered useless in the process. Overpowering the guards, they race inside and begin following Lenneth's pulses of pain over the Mark and the Contract. FIghting off a second squad of enemies, and nearly losing Lucky in the process, they manage to survive, Jean begins to show signs of deep agression in her fighting, backed by her loyal Angel Blade.

Reaching the hall where Lenneth is held, Zeal, running in first, comes to face a General with a legion of armed men. Jean, wild and crazy, leaps in over Zeal, taking twenty shots at once, hurling two bombs at the soldiers, decimating them. As the Moira, Crim and Tanan leap into battle with the sole surviving general, Truth and Tanan work to heal a dying Jean. Zeal, taking time to overcome shock, eventually begins to treat specific wounds, and with Truth, saves Jean's life. Tearing off the armor on Jean, they find her become peaceful, her agression vanishing.

Tanan nearly dies when he finds Lenneth, chained up with a knife slowly leaking blood from her heart. A cannon takes out his side in a devastating strike. THe group struggles to heal Lenneth and Tanan, and uses another bomb to clear the forces outside, they steal a floating carriage and speed away with the wounded, escaping during a high speed chase. Back at the temple, the group sets the wounded in beds and rests for a while, Revi rejoining the group and warning them of the manhunt against them.

Dusk, unable to hide them all, sends most of the group, save those wounded, Lit, and Truth out to the wilds outside the city to hide. They speed away in an air carriage, coming across a second temple in the wilds where they set up camp.

Session 178: On Thin Ice

Treking across the frozen Nuege, the group begins to notice the sounds of cracking all about them, the very ice shell around Nuege starting to give way. Just before it can give way under them, Sia and Rachael use ice and fire magik to create a path down into the ice caves below, the group knowing about them thanks to finding Carly so very long ago now.

Treking underground, they move along for what feels like days, creating new tunnels as they head towards Nuege. They come across a ruin in the ice, with strange text, a monument to some fallen group looking for peace. Sia records the evidence in her journal and the group moves on. Coming across a huge underground chasm, Sia uses her vines and magic to form a huge ice bridge for the group, getting them across.

They come out into a large cavern, and it is indeed the ancient school where they found Carly. Choosing not to look back into it, the group finds a ramp and between the stronger members of the team, they remove the ice rubble blocking it and head back up. Hours from Nuege, they move on and enter the city, passing through security and finding an inn to stay at, as they formulate a plan to cautiously contact King Arcane.

Session 179: Left Behind II: Imperial Force

Leaving some of their party behind at the ruined temple, Thomas, Cersei, Revi, Seth, Crim, Lucky and Zeal head into the forests to seek out the rumored ancinet ruins that they contain. Navigating through an oddly clean forest, the group meets a wild dragon-cat who leads them to a barrier. At first it appears impassible, then Zeal has the idea to combine Mark powers to overcome the barrier, allowing the group inside. Entering, they find a lake filled with gold coins and beyond it, then entrance to a barrows.

Stepping below the group finds a set of hallways, only one lit with a torch, and agreeing after a bit that Crim and Cersei will scout it out, the two head through and find a round table with artifacts on them. A bag, a marble, and an Anima Gauntlet. Seth claims the Anima as Revi takes the bag. Then discovering a tomb below them, Seth shifts into a child form and climbs down the small hole to investigate. He discovers clear caskets and what seems to be a pair of sleeping girls. A slot in the caskets for something to go in. Just as they start looking, Carly sends them a message in the Mark.

The temple is under attack, they're surrounded. The group rushes back to temple, using the Anima to go faster. They arrive to find the temple burning, their friends missing and unresponsive in the mark. What waits for them is a host of Imperial Soldiers, using the new Anima, Seth taps into it's Magick Beam powers while Revi wades into them with Anima E. Moira, Thomas, Crim and Cersei leap into melee while Lucky blows himself up trying to steal a gun again.

Chasing the last of the soldiers off, the group rallies, checking for bodies of their allies. Finding nothing, they contact Truth. Truth is well and the other temple unharmed. The group moves off, heading back to the Imperial City to save their friends.

Session 180: Arcane, Friend or Foe?

After an evenings of dancing and singing for meals and rooms, the group splits up to begin their plans of carefully contacting Arcane. Like most plans, this hardly goes in the way they hoped it would. Sia follows Selena, an elven singer the group recently made friends with back to the inn, as well the rest head back to rest while Kaelan, Moira and Leruste head to the poor section of town to find a cheap second inn. While they search, Sia prepares letters to be sent off to Arcane which don't reveal who they are or where they are save fo the inn Kaelan chooses, the Whore's Floor.

Kaelan, arriving at the Inn, flashes some gold to get private seating, and a toothless thug catches sight of it, he's thrown out, but moves off to cause trouble. Kaelan decides to see about a route of escape, and the group heads to their small room only to find it windowless. They shore up the door and wait for a while. Meanwhile, Sia travels to the rich district to see about hiring a messenger, a guard takes her letter instead, promising to deliver it. Not about to take chances, Sia heads to the poor section to hire an urchin to deliver the letter as well.

Sia's generosity backfires, as she tries to feed and hand out money to some of the poor kids, fighting breaks out amongst them and every attempt to remedy the situation only seems to make things worse. Eventually, Sia's coinpouch is stolen, and giving chase, she's beaten to catching the little thief girl who takes it by her fellow urchins, who beat her for the coin. Sia picks up the girl and holds her close, healing her under a cloth as she waits for the urchin she managed to hire to deliver the letter. Giving confirmation, Sia gives him a whole gold coin for his duties and moves on with the little girl.

After a maid checks on their room, Kaelan and Moira have Leruste follow her to see if there's an ambush set. Leruste, being less then careful, manages to find the ambush, and gets knocked out. Kaelan and Moira move down to help him to find him naked to the bone, everything stolen from him. Kaelan returns to the inn to wait for contact while Sia, moving along, noticed the thieves and leads Moira and Ler to them. Joining her at their hideout, they get ready to attack when a giant fireball beats down on the building, melting it rapidly. The group stares in shock as Anne joins them, claiming impatience over their mess. Together the group overpowers the thieves, takes back Ler's possessions.

Moira and Ler rejoin Kaelan, Anne heading back and Charles dragging Sia back to the proper inn. They're met by a figure who gives them a location and name, which after returning to the inn and regrouping, proves to be safe passage into the castle. Led down a hall, they meet Arcane, who's first question is why, many months ago, they kidnapped Mercy. Kaelan speaks for the group and soon Arcane seems mollified and agrees to allow the group to use the Light Stone to return to the ship, asking them to go on a mission for him, which Anne accepts.

Meanwhile, Selena had turned up missing in the inn and while Kaelan, Sia, Charles, Wyrd and Anne head to the castle, the rest of the crew tracks her down, taking out a group of drunks that previously attacked her and saving her life yet again. Kaelan and Arcane remain alone as the others go back to gather the the group together and get supplies, they speak, and when the group heads back the Hope, nearly a day later, they return with Selena on their team, and Mercy's mother, Hope.

Session 181: Left Behind III: Jeanole

Sneaking back into the city, the group makes their way back to the temple, avoiding troops and a strange light which searches for them. Zoning out in the middle of a street, Zeal is captured by troopers, the others having to leave her behind. The group finally makes it to the temple to find the others relatively healed up, with Dusk being attended by Truth. With the others captured and interrogation more then apparent, the group agrees to hide elsewhere.

They make their way into the city and find a quiet residence. Sneaking in and avoiding a strange magick beam which guards the door, they enter the home and Seth douses the family inside with pheramones, binding them, leaving them high and happy in their captivity. The group rests there for hours, and soon enough they decide they must act. Splitting up, Thomas and Revi head off to set up the explosives while the rest agree to head down below to the undercity, hoping to find the group, interrogations over, they will likely be sold off as slaves.

The group fights their way down the stairs and takes to the rooftops around the slave square, spotting an obvious trap, Seth uses an arrow to communicate with Revi and start a distraction. A bomb goes off, taking out some of the soldiers lying in wait and the group attacks, taking down soldiers and freeing not just their allies, but a small army of slaves while Crim, Lucky and Lenneth take back the ship. Rushing onto the ship, the crew begins to head out, chased by Empire ships. As they pass through the ravine to the ocean, the bombs above them go off, burying their persuers and locking the port out from the rest of the world. Thomas remains behind, sending word that he and Dusk will find their own way out.

Date: 2389.11.3

Session 182: Arcane Actions

Reaching a border town, Anne's group presents their proof of working for Arcane and Kaelan steps in to work with the town's leader to get the town ready to face Navarran soldiers. Anne begins to construct walls with Earth Magick and some of the townspeople decide she must be the Angel. Between the group pointing out that Anne has two gray eyes and Sia claiming to be a servant of Lenneth, the townspeople, all but three, seem largely satisfied with the outcome.

As night falls, the group sets up camp, however, when Rose goes to relieve herself, Kaelan going with her, the team loses contact with Kaelan in the bond. Rushing out, Sia is barely able to save them, their throats cut through. Healing them with magic, the rest of the team spreads out to find the assassin, and their trail first leads to the leader of the town, rousing him and scaring off the assassin, the group chases after her. Sia catches up with Charles and Rachael, and captures it with vines. The assassin turns out to be a Catmew, who flings a knife wildly, to Sia's deep shock, the knife scores true, in the heart of Charles.

Desperate not to lose him, Sia grabs hold of him and casts the forbidden spell, using Ressurection, she brings Charles back from the dead, in doing so, tying her life force to his. The two, down and out for resting, are set aside, as Wyrd takes it in hand to tame the Catmew. Interrogatng the girl, Kaelan and Wyrd find out that her family is being held captive. The group decides to spare the girl's life, and in exchange, she tells them all they need to know about the incoming forces.

Morning breaks, and 75 soldiers march and ride in on the place, attempting to flank the miners. Kaelan summons Anima T to deal with the flankers while the rest deal with the oncoming charge, soon the group is involved in a bloody battle, Anne and Moira in the thickest of the fighting, Mew, the Catmew, saves Anne's life with a well place dagger in the throat of one of the miners who suspected Anne of being the Angel. After the fight is won, the group decides to speed south, taking an injured Rose, and an unconcious Sia and Charles with them into the Navarro.

Session 183: Left Behind IV: Angel Harvest

Stopping on an island, Jean's crew disembarks, thinking the island another left behind for them to find weapons and treasure to serve the fight. Jean however, doesn't feel anything. Seth, Crim, Truth, Lucky, Revi, Lilica and Moira head into the ruins they find with Jean. They pass through the barriers with little trouble, then come upon ancient devices, only unlike others, these seem fresh, newly working, and functional. Jean reads the Ancient on the screens, "If you can read this, Angel, you are about to die."

The temple seals itself, and the group knows they've walked into a trap, Angelus is coming, and they're all about to die. Lenneth, reading the book, learns what is about to happen and urges the others to go help them. Tanan and Lenneth rush to the rescue, Angelus enters the trap to face the others and his words, mocking to Jean, send her into one of her rages. Slamming Angelus into the consoles, the island begins to shatter around them. The team runs, Truth dragging the wild Jean with her, and they race off. Lilica stays behind to hold Angelus off while the rest of the group has started to engage the False Angel at the ship.

The team unites at the ship, and sensing Lilica being crushed, Lenneth races out with Tanan and Cersei to meet Angelus. The others beat back the False Angel, who runs back to her father. Lucky gets the ship ready to leave. Before Angelus the three gather, and Zeal with Crim. Cersei knocks out Lenneth and sends her back to the ship with Crim, Zeal going a short time later at Cersei's urgings. As the team attempts to flee the island, Cersei and Tanan face off against the god and his false daughter.

Tanan manages to beat the device controlling the false Angel off her, the startled girl seems to make a break for it, readying to teleport, Tanan, wishing to not sacrifice anyone but himself, grabs Cersei and ties her to the girl, teleporting her away from the collapsing island. Tanan then faces Angelus one on one, holding desperately onto the man, punching and grabbing, doing everything he can to keep the sadistic god in place.

Lucky, having failed to get in close enough to rescue the two, reluctantly pulls away and sails on, the group can see in the distance as the island is sucked into a whirlpool, Tanan fading in the mark forever, Cersei missing from the Pact with Lenneth. Wounded, with friends lost, the team sails onward. Jean, despairing at the loss of Tanan, begins to tear apart. Truth sets her down and begins to talk to her, restoring her faith in the Marked, urging her not to abandon her friends.

Date: 11.8.2389

The team returns to the site of the island at Zeal's urgings. There, they say their final farewells, the team showing that despite leaving them behind, they loved and cared for their friends, though Revi seems to doubt it. Crim holds a small service and seems especially distraut over Cersei's disappearance. Unable to find a body, they accept that Cersei has been taken elsewhere. They begin to sail away once more. Tanan will never be forgotten.

Date: 2389.11.5

Session 184: Journey Back to Navarro

Anne's group continues south, Sia and Charles awakened, a friendship seems to have sparked between the catgirls, in spite of the nature of their first meeting. The group begins to cross the border, meeting up with a border patrol. They begin a tale of being merchants forced out of Nuege, and it seems to hold up until Wyrd pipes in with another story. Rachael saves the moment by suggesting Wyrd take up Valen's name. They're let through on that good grace and travel further. Stopping at several more checkpoints, they acquire papers that let them go further south...

Date: 2389.11.7

Until that is, they reach a small city, where the Navarran army has taken root, they demand tributes, taking good items from Wynne's shop and starting to demand the women sleep with them in order to pass. Kaelan pushes them onward, threatening violence if they cannot pass. Just when it seems a fight is about to break out, a Captain ends it, making the men stand down and sends them on, introducing himself as Arthurt.

Speeding clear of the camp the group braves the dark and the mounting monsters to get clear of the soldiers. Moving off the road, they hear a siren's call. It turns out to be Nephilim and Ruun, the two reunited with the group. The group settles down to face a dark night, and the intensely agressive monsters of Navarro.

Date: 11.9.2389

Session 185: Left Behind V: Barryon

The crew of the Sea Fox nears the Barrier. A huge glowing red thing sticking out from the ocean and stretching as far as the eye can see. The winds halt as the ship reaches the barrier. Lenneth tells them she will guide the team, and begins to concentrate. Apparently not heeding her words, Zeal interrupts her in the middle and throws Lenneth off track. After Lenneth berates the woman, she concentrates and begins again.

Truth uses her Wind Magic with Jean and the two propel the ship into the Barrier. Lucky steers the ship through lenneth's guidance and in the middle of the barrier they come to a place of rest. Here, Lenneth collapses, overloaded. Jean goes to help bring her out of it and with the two out of the job, the rest of the crew is left to handle getting them out. The crew grows uneasy in the dead zone and the team, gathered together, makes the decision to push on.

Date: 11.10.2389

Lilica and Moira use their Mystifae to feel out the currents of the water, the lack of death in the air and begin to guide Lucky. The ship makes it, but barely, an entire side burned away at the last moment. Seth covers it in a sheet of ice and the crew begins to bail water, when a man appears on the ship. Crim, recognizing him as the God Pariah, turns to face him. A storm approaches them and Pariah makes them an offer, one of Jean's Runestones for safe passage and even expedience through to ocean to their destination.

Crim turns him down, and the team heads through the storm. The hurricane proves to be too much, nearly sweeping the team off into the chaotic waters when land is spotted. Lucky steers them toward it and as they get close, the ship hits a rock in the water and begins to sink. The slaves down below cry out and Pariah appears, taking them to safety. The crew rushes to a life boat, the only one left after the ship's sailors bail on the team early. Just as they touch water, Revi leaps down and misses the boat, falling into the current, and Crim dives after her.

Date: 11.11.2389

The team awakens sometime later, on a desert island, and after some effort, they manage to find everyone alive and well, the sailors who bailed on them, apparently lost in the storm. Finding a Light Stone near a water spring, the group settles down to allow time for their one truely downed team member, Lenneth, to come around, for there is a problem left to them: the stone is broken.

Date: 11.11.2389

Session 186: Light at the End of the Tunnel

Anne's group, headed along towards the Elven Forest meets with their most terrifying challenge yet: a river. Ironically likely the very same ford that nearly did in the original group at the very start of their adventures no less. Sia guides Nephilim to use Earth Magick to create for them a ford to cross, and the group clears the river, challenge overcome, they move on.

In so doing, they come across another familiar sight. Far back when the adventure began, the group encountered a dark forest that seemed to call to Jean, but at the same time carried a great evil. Seeing it now, Nephilim finds she carries memories of the place and insists on going in. When she demands to go alone, the group scoffs and assembles those who will go in. Soon Nephilim enters the Dark Wood with Moira, Kaelan, Sia, Charles, Anne, Leruste, Ruun and Rachael in tow.

Soon the group finds the trees seeming to move down on them, the mist that surrounds them seems to usher them towards sleep, until Sia uses her influence over the mark to wake them all up. The team continues on and finds the mist has another danger, as it seeps in on them it disguises a landfall, Anne slides down and is lost into the mist, only the sign of her being dragged off found, and the feeling of her fading in the mark. They group rushes on and soon Leruste falls down a hole. The team moves down after him and something covers the hole.

Forced to continue down, Kaelan keeps them moving, calling for them to not spend time conversing when they're in danger. Moving ahead of them, she volunteers as the next victim as something in the mist grabs her and bites into her neck. Warning them of Demons, she soon fades herself and Sia uses Wind Magik to clear the air around them, rushing forward with the others. They come to a dead end and Sia attempts to use what seems to be an obvious trigger, a torch in the wall to open a passage. She and Leruste fall into a spiked pit and Charles attempts to pull them out with a rope as a rock falls for them. Nephilim saves them with a barrier song and Charles pulls them out, Sia shellshocked for some reason as she heals herself and Leruste.

Continuing on they find a dark chamber and there a Vampire and his female submissive feed hungrily on Kaelan, Anne looking drained up. The team responds fiercely, especially Sia and they use their combined powers to scare off the vampires and dust the master. Sia uses her spells and manages to trap some of the vampire dust, hoping it will give him a lot of trouble reforming, and the group sees the female run off down another tunnel.

Mist crowding in from the way they came, the group senses pursuit and runs, but not before Sia blasts a Firestorm spell down the passage they came to buy them some time. Getting above ground, the team runs from mist and a pack of wolves, guided by a female voice to head East. Soon the group reaches a chasm and crosses it with Wind Magik, then break for the forest barrier. The vampiress that helped them seems to want nothing to do with them even after they offer to help her, and she runs off. The group returns to camp with hurt bodies and more answers for Nephilim, who found two more amulets that trigger her memories in the woods.
