Session 77: Jungle Fever

Location: Matias Jungle

The party makes their way to the hometown of Rachael and Valen, a city in the trees. Three days out from their initial journey after teleporting into the jungles of Matias, they follow after Rachael as she guides them. Having recently been joined by an ex-templar named Rynar, they make their way through the dense jungle, Rachael struggling to get her bearings in the place. Jean picks some fruit from a low hanging branch and blanches at it's bitter taste, Kaelan scolding her for not eating something out of the bag of fruits she's already collected.

A snake lands on Kaelan's shoulder, which Neph immediately identifies as highly poisonous. Kaelan does her very best imitation of a statue while Aschae coaxes the snake onto her staff, then deftly catches it by the back of it's head, counseling them on how safe a snake can be. Rachael remarks that she should have warned everyone about the snakes sadly, then mentions a dangerous type of fruit, the Forever Sleeping Fruits, that she should have mentioned as well. Kaelan freezes with dread again, only this time looking to Jean and explaining that Jean likely just ate one. The group panics, and after Rachael confirms it, they race to get Jean to the village. Seth carrying her despite her protests, they rush through the trees.

They come to a river which seems impassible, the nearest bridge miles away. Aschae comes up with the idea of creating a bridge with Earth Magic and a branch. Kaelan suggests cutting a branch, and Azhren gladly tosses her up into a tree in a surprising move, causing all to stare at him in shock. Kaelan manages to prevent herself from crashing into a branch or falling to her death by slicing her sword into the tree and holding on. Nephilim climbs up after the girl and rescues her up properly onto the branch. Together, with Kaelan's sword and Neph's song that causes the blade to catch aflame, they cut the branch off and make it to the ground. Aschae binds the branch to either side of the river with mud, which Seth hardens with Fire Magic, and the group starts to cross.

As they begin to make it to the end, a splash of water catches Mercy, sending her in, Kaelan attempts to grab her but falls in with the girl, holding tight to her, they lose half their supplies, and Aschae fishes the girls out of the water. THe group carries on, moving quickly for Jean's sake, Zeal comes to the realization that she can help Jean and works on an antitoxin, which the administer on the move. They soon make it to the city and Jean is brought to a shaman healer to be completely cured. The group settles to rest, Kaelan sticking by Jean's side the entire night.

Session 78: Home is Where the Heart Is

Location: Matias Jungle

The next morning everyone seems refreshed, sitting about tables in the main hall to feast with the villagers. Rachael confesses a desire to stay there in the village and remain in what she has left from her past. Nephilim seems affronted to this, and Seth circumspectly seems to concur with her. Jean and Kaelan enter the hall looking well rested and cleaned, and in short order Kaelan stumbles in conversation when Jean reveals the two had become intimate the night before. Kaelan is spared from too much shame when Seth teases Rachael about marrying her, and Nephilim craftily calls him out on it, challenging him to a duel for Rachael's hand.

Seth's humor dissipates as he flatly refuses to fight her, choosing to earn the villager's shame instead of proceed with it. The more and more Nephilim tries to goad him, the more disturbed and angry he starts to grow, finally, due to the intervention of Rachael and Kaelan, Nephilim stops. As she does, a boy who has a crush on Nephilim decides to take up the call for her, challenging Seth again for Nephilim and Rachael's hands, upping the ante and turning things around on Nephilim. Seth wholeheartedly accepts the challenge, with a sudden return to his cheer. Jean flees the scene to follow Rynar, who seems depressed, and digs into him for information. Learning of his hate and regret over the Church and what it has become, Jean tries to encourage him to try and rise above the corruption, and join the other former Templars in the group in making the Church a force of good again.

Seth leaves to let Kaelan and Rachael tackle Nephilim and keep her from fleeing her fate. Rachael talks Nephilim into telling the man after her heart to drop his challenge, saving them both from the fate of early marriage either to the boy or Seth. Nephilim is found out for using the entire event as a way of keeping Rachael from leaving the group. Nephilim heads off to find the boy and Kaelan and Rachael sit, talking about her possibly leaving and resolving that she will remain with the group, and then about Kaelan and Jean becoming close. Rachael warns Kaelan that such things will lead to the Angel taking revenge for the violation, and Kaelan admits her own lack of knowledge about sex and agrees to tell Jean that they need to both learn more and save themselves for true loves.

Aschae joins the conversation and somehow they get into talking about the Angel's motivations, Aschae suggesting tying her up and interrogating her, which Rachael seems apt to, while Kaelan believes it unnecessary, expressing a trust for the Angel that is near the same level she holds for Jean, whom she already considers her sister. Seth joins the conversation and also states not only a belief that it's unnecessary, but foolish, and when Jean joins the group, Aschae leaves with an attempt to pass the buck of the suggestion off on the others. Seth just gives her a look.

Kaelan sits Jean down to tell her they're going to stop with such intimacy until they're both ready, offering to help teach her when someone more experienced teaches her, and to keep her honor safe from evil men like Seth. When Jean expresses fear that the Angel will come down hard on Kaelan for what they did, Kaelan assures her otherwise and Seth offers to help Jean communicate with Angel by written dialect. Down below the village, Rynar and Lenneth train with swords, when suddenly something leaps out from the woods, knock Rynar down, and takes Lenneth away. Sensing something is wrong, Jean heads towards the scene, Rachael catching sight of the event, races after them, as does Rynar. Seth leads the others after them and soon, joined by Kaelan, Thomas, Zeal, Nephilim, Aschae, and Jean, they race into the jungle to find the creature has taken Lenneth to the Haunted Grounds.

Entering the dark tunnels, they begin to make their way down when a trap separates the group, sending Jean, Seth, Rynar and Aschae tumbling into the darkness. The others, finding they cannot follow, press on in hopes of seeing their friends again.

Session 79: Blood Rites

Location: An Unknown Ruin

Delving deeper into the ruins, the group consisting of Kaelan, Thomas, Zeal and Nephilim are stopped quickly when an arrow strikes through Thomas' arm. Zeal begins to treat the wound while Nephilim races ahead, unleashing traps she easily outruns. As Kaelan pauses with the light source in hand after Nephilim tosses it back to her, Zeal continues to treat Thomas. In the darkness ahead, Nephilim battles an angry doggie, taking it down with her combination hand to hand and dagger fighting. After which she explores deeper, finding a way down, she starts to head down. Kaelan soon after leaves Thomas and Zeal behind so they can get Thomas all better.

The trapped group has found their way out of the darkness and into a room where a lone woman stands over an altar, caressing the unconscious body of Lenneth. After some conversation, they determine she is a demon, Seth matching her obsession with blood to that of Carly. Seth talks Rynar down from attacking what he perceives as an evil monster, and Aschae makes a deal to trade herself for Lenneth. Jean seems to be confident that Aschae will be alright in the trade and when conversation starts to upset Jean, over the notion that she might be part monster, Seth quickly calls her attention back to a gem in the ruins that Jean is obsessively looking for. Distracted, she quickly heads back the way they came for the gem, Seth carrying Lenneth out after her.

Nephilim and Kaelan work their way through a hallway of traps. Nephilim uses her reflexes and grace while Kaelan uses caution, armor, and a ready shield. They get through mostly unscathed, and proceed into a room full of gold, stuffies, some ancient treasures, and the gem. At that moment, Jean enters looking for her gem followed by the others. Kaelan calls Jean to caution about the gem, since most of the time when they've taken one, disaster follows. Nephilim tosses this caution to the wind by taking it and presenting it to Jean, while the others, all gathering, start to collect the treasures, among them, 1000 gold, stuffed animals, a painting of the shattering of the moon, a golden sword, a strange rectangle device, and a box they can't carry. Jean takes her gem with glee, though the happiness is short lived. Aschae returns, blood dripping from her mouth, looking refreshed. She reveals she ate the demon, instead of the other way around, killing it. This instantly upsets Jean who leaves the ruins in a hurry, Kaelan following her carefully. The others exit slowly, most saying nothing. On the surface, Rynar agrees that killing a beast in misery is a fine act, while Lenneth, without totally disagreeing, notes that everyone is a beast in misery to some degree. Despite Thomas' words about the creature being a vampire, and the promiscuity towards whether it is right or wrong, Seth only appears to get more disgusted with the act.

Seth outlines his disgust over the execution, he reveals his distaste with any killing done in the name of 'mercy' or 'morals', and refuses to acknowledge Aschae's thoughts that she's in the right. They head back to the village to find Carly waiting for them. Upon hearing from Nephilim that they killed a demon, she seems to make up a long thought on decision, leaving them all, refusing to be in a group that will, to her thoughts, stab her in the back. Seth and Zeal attempt to get her to stay, attempt to show they still care, but she leaves anyway, promising their next meeting will not be a friendly one. What she left behind, was the man she took the village, Valen.

Rachael, Kaelan, and Nephilim go to meet Valen. After some talking, Rachael accepts his return but threatens to come down hard on him if he ever brings Jean to harm again. Kaelan is far less forgiving, holding him in deep distrust for his actions, she however, does agree with Rachael in allowing him to continue on with them. Down below, Seth and the Angel, who came out due to Jean's upset over Aschae's murdering of the demon, talk. Seth comes to find the Angel is as selfless has he believed, and promises her that he will kill her if she does indeed attempt to bring about the ruin of the world. As the confrontation up above resolves, the Angel grins in pleasure, Kaelan begins to itch heavily down below, and does so for a few hours as revenge for the time she spent forgetting her honor. The group decides to rest in the village for the day before moving on towards Matias.

Session 80: Romp Through the Jungle

Location: Private Hut

The team meets in the old hut belonging to Rachael and Valen, there they discuss where to go next on their journey. The Angel feels an urge, a pull towards their next crystal location, southeastwards towards Matias, so that is the direction the party agrees to travel in. As a group they leave the village in the trees behind, conversing together.

Kaelan brings Valen mostly up to date on the group, explaining about their magic and the marks, upon hearing about the marks, Rynar seems to become spooked. After being told he won't be marked, the man seems to calm down, but grows more reserved in his speaking. They travel on.

Date: 2389.6.3

Session 81: The Jungle Sleeps Tonight

Location: Matias Woods

As the party treks deeper through the jungle, Valen and Rachael consult each other trying to feel out the right path, when they feel something wrong with the way they are going. After explaining to the group, they agree to trek around a terrible source of bad feelings ahead of them, wishing to avoid trouble. They journey on and soon begin to feel especially tired.

They decide to strike up camp, Nephilim, Valen and Rachael climbing up the trees to get a better look, as soon as they part the leaves, they begin to feel strangely refreshed. Down below, the rest of the party fights to stay awake while they prepare camp, seeing something terrible going on, the elvish members of the party climb back down and try to lead the humans away, heading further on. They group stumbles, finding themselves rolling down a hill, at the bottom of which they find a three headed monster, a Chimera.

Battling sleep with fear now, the party faces off against the three deadly heads, and with a combination of bravery, magic use, and coordinated attacks, the team takes down the beast, freeing the woods from the sleeping gases it was emitting. Still, now exhausted from battle, the group makes camp. Aschae leads Lenneth and Jean away to bathe while the others set up camp. Seth sets about harvesting the beast for the group's profit, after apologizing to the corpse for killing it at Jean's request.

Date: 2389.6.5

Session 82: The Hidden Village

Location: Matias Jungle

The group finds themselves entering a new section of the forest, here the glowing flora subsides to give way to sunlight and less thick overgrowth. As they remark on this, they come across a mud covered man in the gloom of the woods. He flees from them in fear and Aschae decides to run off on her own to pursue him. Lenneth and Rachael rush after her and are soon lost in fog, which the group hesitantly follows through. After some time, this hesitation comes to fruition when the group finds themselves surrounded by mud covered men armed with spears, bows, and serious looks.

After some uttered words from their leader, Jean quickly takes to the language and in a bout of her usual charisma, mollifies the leader and they are escorted to their village. Here they find Aschae, Lenneth and Rachael sitting by a fire, having helped nurse the runaway man when he hurt his leg fleeing. Lenneth was also able to communicate with the people. Jean and the Chieftain converse, and they find that these people, elves and halflings mostly, are a hidden village waiting the return of 'The One' that brought them to the forest.

This One has fair skin, is part beast and speaks their tongue, it is said she will lead them to their freedom. Some in the party begin to think it might be Jean, due to previously learning of her part monster nature and her fitting all the other remarks. However, this talk seems to bring Lenneth into a state of worry and after being asked to show her ears by the chieftain, she refuses. The Angel awakens to talk to the chief and after revealing that she has specially hidden animal ears and a tail, goes off with the leader of the village to learn of their history.

When she does, she leaves with a remark that sends the group spinning. Aschae has done something to Lenneth's collar, and in fear, they inquire. They learn to their horror that Aschae has freed Lenneth of the collar, and after collecting themselves, realize that the goddess has not killed them or attempted to harm the Angel. Hoping she may have started to see the situation from their end, they set off to find her, her having wandered off.

Zeal finds her first and discusses with her the feelings she has, her perspective, the goddess' memories appear to still be missing, but she is regaining her instincts. Whether or not she is simply feigning her lack of memory is a mystery, however she appears, at least for now, to remain an ally to the group. The Angel returns and Seth explains the situation, once the group is reunited, the agree to rest in the village before returning to their journey. Jean regains control and Kaelan finds a note on her ordering the group to head for Oas after Matias. They agree to follow that path, Kaelan eager to learn about the events that occurred, Zeal wanting answers about those events she has knowledge of already.

As Lenneth has said however, a hero does not look back, they only move forward. So will what they find cause wounds too deep for either to recover from?

Session 83: Trek Across Matias Part 1

Location: Matias Grasslands

Out now on the plains of Matias, the group travels on, facing the heat of growing summer with little wind to help them. It's in these plains that rain strikes, forcing the group to trudge on in blinding downfall. As it picks up, thunder strikes, and losing Jean for a moment, Seth runs after her, only to find himself engulfed by a large, monstrous venus fly-trap called a Man-Eater. The team works together to free him, when Kaelan notes Mercy has gone missing.

Jean heads into the thick grass to find her, the others following, and they quickly get separated, finding themselves surrounded by Man-Eaters. Battling through them with quick strikes, magic, and blades, the group only finds Mercy's torn clothing. Feeling at a loss, they nearly give up when a vine grabs Rachael and pulls her underground. The team follows, heading into the darkness below and eventually coming out in the lair of a Queen Man-Eater, her saplings readying to plant within the bodies of Mercy and Rachael.

The team cuts their way through the thicket of man eating plants and saves the girls, severely injuring the Queen and barely escaping before in her thrashings, the queen brings down the cavern on top of herself. The party heads for the surface to find Thomas returned to them, they make camp at the front of the caves, taking shelter from the rain.

During the night, many things occur that begin to change the group. Carly, reunited with the team, takes her share of blood from Zeal and leaves sometime during the night, however, Seth feels she will return. Kaelan and Mercy are captured by a Daughter Man-Eater and somehow escape safely from her, growing closer together in the adventure. Lenneth and Aschae continue to bond under the flowing water. Seth awakens the next morning after a strange dream, looking very refreshed. They move onwards when the rain breaks.

Session 84: Trek Across Matias Part 2

Location: Matias Grasslands

While Valen leads a small group, Nephilim, Aschae, Zeal and Thomas among them, to scout ahead, the rest of the party nears farmland and after finding horse tracks, decide to head closer to the farms hoping to avoid bandits. On their way they run into two slavers attempting to take a little girl, and Seth, using arrows and very serious words, frees the girl and gets the slavers to lead them to their hideout, much to Lenneth's approval.

Kaelan sends Mercy with Jean and the girl off to a nearby farm to keep out of harms way and they set off, only to be ambushed in the woods by Daemon and his slavers, knocked out, and captured.

Kaelan awakes to find Faile and Lenneth chained with her, all three set for slavery, when Daemon enters and mocks the warrior as she tries to break free from her bonds. Convincing her of the wisdom in remaining calm after a display of power, he takes the girl, and Lenneth, to a room where he holds Lenneth's virginity ransom in exchange for a meeting with the Angel. Kaelan attempts to talk him out of it, or so it seems, for some time, before deciding the man's motives are so sketchy that she has to take a chance, and stops Daemon from letting Lenneth be used.

Haggling, Kaelan gets permission to see the other prisoners, and is led to find an unsullied Rachael and a very pissed off Seth kept in separate cells. After confirming that everyone has been unharmed, as Daemon promised, she finds out from Daemon that he isn't so black and white, but rather shades of gray, a man combating slave trade by seizing control of it. After hesitantly agreeing, she sets out to lead him to the Angel.

Date: 2389.6.10

Session 85: Trek Across Matias Part 3

Location: Matias Grasslands

Valen's group arrives at the farm to find Jean has already charmed the owners and Mercy is currently watching over the girl. As they gather, Jean relates the tale of Seth and Lenneth leading the others off to fight slavers, then her concern because they've been away for a while. The group decides to go aid their friends and set off into the woods, moving to meet up with Kaelan, whom Jean senses is traveling through the woods. As they approach the bandit's location, they are ambushed with the same tactic as Seth's party and quickly taken out.

Aschae and Zeal awaken in the company of a mournful looking Kaelan, and Aschae, after some feeling about, discovers she knows the nature of the collars on their necks, keeping them from using magic. As she asks one of the other two to help her get free, Kaelan informs her that they're under the threat that any action taken will result in the men being killed. Their conversation is overheard by a troublemaker who moves in and gets two of his buddies in on an attempt to rape the three, however, as they try, they begin to get hot and sick, the men lighting on fire. Aschae gets free enough to dispatch the remaining man, the troublemaker, and as she settles on getting free more guards enter. Kaelan and Aschae put them off guard and while Aschae mocks dressing Kaelan, she instead strips the poor girl more and tosses her into the guards.

Seeing her in such a position causes the men to also light on fire, and in response more guards toss Thomas into the room, hoping to get him to share the same fate. Kaelan shocks him out of any lustful thought and the girls get free, and dressed. Using their magic they break free, taking down guards to free Seth, and then Rachael, Lenneth and Faile, recovering their gear, they slaughter their way through the base to Daemon's chamber.

As they reach it, they find Jean and Nephilim stepping out, revealing that Daemon simply attempted to romance Nephilim and merely took some blood from Jean, then gave her a cookie. The man of course, fled before they got there, and the group, now armed with loot, the gear and weapons of the slavers on top of their own, and a stable full of horses, make their way back to the farm to be united with Mercy. Kaelan gives the farmers 200 gold coins out of their loot, a literal fortune, asking them only to make a good life for the orphaned girl and their son. Seth finally admits his deep love for Jean, which she returns. Another new relationship, that between Kaelan and Mercy becomes apparent as well as the group settles down to rest for the evening in the barn of the farmers.

Date: 2389.6.12

Session 86: The Capital Matias

Location: Matias Grasslands

Arriving in the city, all seems well at first, without meeting any active detection from the church. The group finds an inn near the harbor at Seth's suggestion and Jean's urging. Kaelan pushes for a deluxe room with Mercy as the team works out room arrangements, and being the one to lay down the money, settles on fancy rooms for Zeal and Thomas, Mercy and Herself, as well as Jean and whomever she invites in.

When Carly joins the group, things slowly start to explode for the team. Seth gets taken to task for being with Carly and Jean at the same time, and in an effort to try and lessen a future blow to one of them, decides to break things off with Carly. Everyone's negative thoughts being Jean to let go and give control to the Angel, who flees the group and dons a disgiuse to hide. Thomas and Zeal have a fight when Thomas finds out how intimate Zeal has been with Carly.

A night of chasing one another about comes to a bitter end when Carly allows herself to be killed by Templars in her attempt to escape the pain of rejection. Seth, discovering this, is shocked and driven to near madness, going to extraordinary lengths to recover her body and reunite the parts. When this doesn't prove to bring her back like he hoped, he brings Zeal, Thomas, and Rachael into the matter, following the Angel's suggestions on how to ressurect her.

As they make their way out of town to the safe place Seth has set up, the Angel tries to open up to Nephilim only to find herself grown colder by Neph's actions. Aschae steps into the matter and opens herself to the Angel and they delve together into a world of the Angel's subconcious. The ressurection party gives a blood sacrifice, and tears of grief, and when Rachael uses a newly found healing magic... all goes black for the group.

Valen heads out with Nephilim and Kaelan, racing out the gates of the city and into the fields.

Upon inspection they find Zeal to be okay by Seth seems to be dead, but not dead, which he argues adamantly despite the hole in his chest frozen over with ice.

As they get back into town, they see a healer who drives off Seth, revealing him to now be a Demon, and gives Zeal and Carly a clean bill of health. Returning to the inn they deduce that Jean is being drained due to Seth's undead state, and determine Jean is too weak to remove the mark. Aschae takes Jean away, with Lenneth, to give Jean a little vacation from the drain and the emotions of the group. The rest settle down, trying to decide what to do with their new Demon.

They depart with his blessing, gathering the books they need.

Kaelan takes the girls on a shopping trip, getting new clothes for everyone, even taking the time to pick new styles for poor Nephilim. After getting everything they need, Kaelan goes out to get a forge working and the others head back to the inn. Carly awakens and deals with her confusion, flocking to Zeal's side and taking on a childish persona with her. Seth shows his spiking emotions too hard to handle and eventually has to exile himself from the others, into his own room to keep calm, struggling with his new demon nature.

Session 89: Setting Sail for Sinai

Location: Inn

Aschae returns with a Goddess and an Angel unharmed. The group seems fairly well off seeing Lenneth again, despite being recently told that the woman fully remembers that she is in fact, the Goddess of Heroes. Jean seems to hesitate, but does remove the mark from Seth, stopping the drain effect. Seth seems fine with the occurance, as it means he's no longer hurting Jean.

Kaelan presents new weapons and armor to various members of the group, the fruits of her first ever real grind over a blacksmith's anvil. After dishing out clothes and arranging meals, the group gets ready to make an early start onto the ship to get better rooms. They make their way out and the man handing out rooms attempts to extort them out of more money then the 800 gold they paid for rooms.

While Kaelan tries to negotiate a better price, Aschae befriends a noble getting on board and convinces her to pay their way into the best rooms on the ship. They make their way in to discover the very fine rooms, splitting up in similar fashion to what they did in the inn. The group later looks out as Matias fades into the distance, the ship taking off into the waters without incident.

Enjoying some time on the deck, Jean bumps into a girl named Sia Mason, a young woman who travels alone with a strange, demonic book. After she explains that she was supposed to get a Noble Room, something the group occupied entirely along with the noble they are travelling with, Jean demands she stay with them.

They learn that Sia is searching for signs of her twin sister, and after she starts to catch on to who the group is, is surprisingly drawn to them instead of repulsed. She informs them that her twin sister is a Demon, and she is disillusioned from the church. The group takes this with some degree of apprehension, Thomas later deciding she might be a spy sent from the church. However the intelligent, if extremely naive young girl latches onto Jean as a friend, and takes to the command of staying with Kaelan and Mercy quite well.

Zeal is reminded of a past event, and admits to Sia that she may be the killer of Mia Mason, who she remembers to be a demon in Sinai she had to put down. Sia becomes crestfallen, clinging to her demonic tome all the more tightly, stubbornly clinging to the last vestiges of hope that she could find her errant twin.

Date: 2389.6.21

Session 91: Pirates of the High Seas

Location: The Boat

The group is relaxing up on top of the ship, enjoying some sun. The girls are sunbathing while Seth enjoys the view and Sia reads under the shade, as does Thomas. Valen is presumably, below, contemplating somehow being the only male not getting some in the group. Sia tries to ask Thomas some questions about his studies and winds up getting questioned about her evil book of demonic demons. Carly gets sick over the side of the ship and takes interest in a shipfish trying to tell her something. Seth, with dread mounting about Carly, moves in to join in on the conversation with the fish, when he notices a growing spot on the horizon.

As the ship draws closer, the group continues to socialize as Seth becomes facinated with this ship, beginning to get worried. As it gets closer, he determines it to be a pirate ship, soon confirmed with the unfurled black sails and pirate flags. As the group plans on what to do, Sia runs off to warn the captain, Seth orders Carly below decks, after Zeal adds to the order, she relents and heads under, joined by Sia. As the pirates near, they begin to debate whether they should try to repel the pirates peacefully, when the debate takes too long, Seth begins to fire arrows into the pirate ranks. Rachael and Zeal lend their skilled abilities, firing at the pirates as well.

Down below, Aschae prepares a spell and when the ship nears theirs and readies to fire catapults into the ships sides, she unleashes powerful wind magic, Rachael unleashes powerful fire magic. Their combined attack starts to sink the pirate ship, forcing those not already boarded to leap onto the decks of the cruiser, to face the crew of their own ship. Carly drags Sia valiantly up onto the deck, and Carly tries to participate in the battle, causing Seth to have to snipe enemies to protect her at a distance.

Kaelan, Jean, Nephilim and Thomas handle most of the melee, as pirate leap onto their part of the deck, the group combined takes down the last of them, and a well aimed Super Fireball from Rachael takes out the Pirate Captain, Aschae's fire burns out the remaining pirates. The ship sails on as the group recovers, patting one another on the back, with their powers and teamwork, they easily faced a threat and ended it.

Date: 2389.6.27-28

Session 92: Death

Location: Boat

As the group is enjoying the final legs of the journey towards the port town at Sinai when disaster strikes. A child comes above decks from below, showing signs of illness, she complains that her mother is ill and dying. The ship quickly begins to murmur about plague, and moves to push the child overboard. As they begin to, Jean becomes enraged, moving over to try and help the girl, she and Sia are held back when they try, and as the girl is pushed overboard, Jean goes wild, breaking free and moving to the side of the ship. Zeal leaps overboard and attempts to save the girl, bringing her waterlogged body up above deck with Rachael's help.

Seeing a bad situation about to turn terrible, Kaelan moves in and act as a living wall between the sailors and the Angel. Jean attempts to heal the girl and Zeal helping her, the two make contact with her, becoming infected. They are ordered below decks, leaving the others to worry. Rachael quickly gathers supplies and follows, while the rest debate on what to do. Lenneth, realizing the truth behind the plague, warns them to not let Jean heal any other people, lest she become a carrier. Kalean, finding her newfound influence with Jean through the Mark is not enough, moves below decks as well to try and physically stop her, winding up temporarily sapped of power and strength when she warns Jean to stop.

Mercy soon follows after for fear of Kaelan's safety, while the rest work to come up with a solution to the problem, each time they find the only real answer is godly intervention. Thomas and Sia work together to formulate that the prophecy is a forked one, allowing for the plague to be stopped, but at the cost of scattering the team. Seeing this the only logical route to take, Lenneth removes her collar, calling the gods. It's answered by her sister, Phoen, who after some convincing removes the plague from the entire ship. Phoen then moves to capture the Angel, Lenneth moving with her, and just as she's about to act, Amazo appears as a giant hand to crush the ship and all aboard. Lenneth uses her deific power to enhance the power of Nephilim's Light, and all goes black for the group as Phoen makes her escape.

Jean, Sia, Thomas, Nephilim, Aschae, Lenneth and Sonye awaken on the shores of a strange land, possibly filled with monsters. They are in the uncharted lands, a land forbidden by the gods. They make camp and start to explore.

Kaelan, Zeal, Rachael, Mercy, Carly, and a strangely feminine and meek Seth, now going by Sadye, appear in the waters outside Sinai and are soon to be fished out of the ocean, set to rejoin the noble they journeyed with.

Sadye finds herself help up against a wall by her neck, a very angry Kaelan demanding the truth out of her. Sadye admits to her crime, losing control and taking the rears of all three, Kaelan, Mercy and Jean at once, and feeding on them. The girls are all disgusted, Carly seems even more dejected at Seth's behavior. Kaelan however, decides Aschae's form of punishment is fitting when she learns that Sadye has been ordered to remain in female form until otherwise allowed to go male again. Kaelan remarks that Sadye might learn something about respecting females over this, and by her reaction, it seems she already is. The girls all use Seth's money in a bit of vengance to hire horses and buy new supplies, before they head South for Oas.

Jean's group finds a village of adorable foxgirls, which is cause for much happiness in the eyes of several of them. After the reach an understanding with the village and learn of their long history as a group which has decided to fight against the gods, they also determine that these might be some of Jean's true people. Sia stumbles on D and picks it up, soon discovering how to work the Ice Elemental Anima for her own use. Emboldened with the power of the Anima, timid Sia begins to face the dragon head on. Between Sia's heroics and the powerful magic of Aschae and the others, the Dragon eventually is destroyed, leaving behind the gem.

Here the group discovers the area also contains a ruins, and when they realize that means the ruins is also completely untouched by the church, they agree to stay at least a couple days longer and inspect the ruins.

Kaelan's group stops to settle down to rest on their journey when Zeal begins to space out with her memories mounting as Kaelan and Zeal near their hometown. Kaelan and Zeal follow, Kaelan tackling Rachael and starting to tickle and flatter her out of her gloomy state while Zeal sets up incense to counteract the high. The girls bathe while Mercy orders Sadye around, Sadye growing deeply upset at one point when Mercy nearly bleeds.

Sadye races into the distance a bit, as it turns out to weep. Rachael comes to her and talks her out of her sadness. Together the three attack the beast, ripping through it's defenses and attacking a weak point. Kaelan severs the horn off the beast, killing it, and the group frees Rachael.

Sadye explores further into the cave to find a woman giving birth to a Grogon and calls for Zeal's help. Zeal, with Rachael's healing magic as a support, is able to surgically kill the baby monster and extract it before, as Sadye confirms, the beast can rip the mother apart. They learn her name is Apple, a woman from Oas. After setting her to rest Sadye brings Mercy and Carly to the cave to rest, and the group makes camp for the evening.

Jean's group readies to go out to the ruins, emerging after rest, to find that at least two more girls have gained collars lately. Aschae has been collared to Gemane and Sia to a female named Sheva. The group departs and makes their way into the woods, Sia declaring her decision to follow the group and remain at her friends sides. Jean and Sia agree to help one another as friends, and as the group draws closer to the ruins, the Angel comes out and states that Sia will be tested.

The test comes quickly as Raptorgons attack the group, belching fire and moving in swarms. The combined efforts of the group tear through the monsters, Sia pushing the Angel out of harms way at one point, and the group moving on. They reach the ruins and set up camp, the Angel sending Thomas, Sia and Nephilim into the ruins to scout ahead as they prepare. As the three look about they find several artifacts, and a baby Lizard King, whom Sia befriends and defense to give the baby a chance to live and prove itself, just like her. Lily presents her with her mother's own bow, a strange device that takes strange arrows, which Kaelan things she can devise. Kaelan and Mercy share a moment and Rachael informs Valen of Seth's crimes. Confronting him, or her, as Seth remains in the form of Sadye, he attempts to trick Sadye into believing sex with the Angel will bring about the end of the world, Sadye expresses a lack of concern, as she seems to plan to never touch Jean again.

The waters finally crumble the walls and people begin to rouse. They set out into the dark cells and Sia finds herself grabbed by a Mar'Kus. It lets her go after realizing she's not a threat or very much to eat and soon is introduced to the group. He, along with several vampires and elves are imprisoned there for being what they are. Session 98: Demons

Location: Inn

Seth gets a rude awakening as several people find him, male, in Sadye's clothing. Assuming he ate poor Sadye, the villagers march the perverted monster out and demand explaination. Kaelan interceeds and with Lily's help, and admitting he's a shapeshifting demon, they prevent Seth from recieving justice he probably deserves. He entertains some of the kids with quick transformations. The group has a meal and Swift offers Zeal a chance to join the hunt that evening. Seth apologizes to the group, discovering along with them that he can't maintain a form indefinately. After some feeding and rest, he plans to take the form of Sadye again.

Lily speaks with the group again, sadly explaining to them the reason Zeal as taken from the village was that the Oasians blamed both Zeal's parents, and Kaelan's parents, for the demon attack 10 years prior. Suspecting Zeal's mother of Demonic influence and Kaelan's mother of messing about with magic and devices that no mortal should toy with, the families were in effect exiled. They know the demons stopped the attacks when Zeal was taken away, at the same time, Kaelan's family moved to the wastes, so there was no way to tell which bloodline was the cause of the demon's interests. However, what they do know is the demons were led by a powerful one which had it's eye taken out by Zeal's mother. Kaelan learns she is definately not a native Oasian, making more questions for herself on her past, and Lily informs Zeal that her mother's honor is preserved as a hero, however the village may have acted 10 years prior.

As the Oasian group discusses what to do, deciding that the other group must be somewhere in the Island Nations, from what they can feel after their presence jumps, they decide to stick it out a little longer. Yewn discovers Seth feeding off the livestock and punishes him. Mercy approves of Seth's reaction, as he genuinely apoligizes and accepts his punishments.

The Angel's group rises from resting and prepares to set out, after deliberations they split into two groups. Angel, Thomas and Nephilim head for the Church Vault where their items are kept, while the rest head into town to secure an escape, thinking of using Sia's sailing connections to secure a ship. On the way towards the base however, Lenneth expresses a sudden fear that ships will be useless, so that team diverts to retaking the Light Stone.

Oasian hunting is cut short when the hunting party meets up with a legion of Demons. The hunters, Zeal and Rachael among them, rush back to camp. After the group reforms they discuss strategies, and due to Zeal suggesting open warfare on a plains against an army of demons, she finds herself outvoted as the rest of the team decides to head to a cave to shelter in and defend. Between Kaelan and Valen, the Oasians are rallied into an exodus and head for the caves. The demons, having gained some time from the lengthy discussion, begin to gain on the villagers. Zeal stays behind to hold them off and lights the plains on fire. Having to race against flame now, the group rushes for the caves. Several Oasians die a fiery death, and the group jsut barely makes it in in time.

Kaelan and Valen organize the defenders while Zeal and Rachael see to each other's damages and rest after Rachael creates a rockslide to enclose the cave. By using up a lot of Rachael's magic, they manage to save Lily's life, who was nearly burnt to death in the flames. Lily, when awakened, makes Zeal the next chief. They prepare for war, the demons marching in, readying to fight them.

Session 99: Cry of the Anima - Part 1

Location: Under the Templar Palace

Lenneth leads her team into the underhalls of the Templar structure they only just the previous day escaped. The group fights their way through the halls and past Templars. Eventually having to take down some scholars, gaining some dosguises and robes which Tal'Ka insists make him more intelligent. As they make their way into the middle tier of the palace, the group becomes a bit impatient and snippy, all feeling uneasy within it's walls.

As Seth returns from scouting the deeper tunnels, the demons begin to break through the barrier. They breach, and Kaelan and Valen rally the defenders as Rachel lends magical support. Zeal and Seth fire into the monsters, however the Oasians are no match for the demons, the group becoming overwhelmed. When Kaelan is surrounded by Demons, Mercy rushes to her aid, Kaelan's attempts to teach her self defense emboldening the girl to try and resuce her lover. However, Mercy becomes surrounded herself and Kaelan attempts to get to her to aid her instead. As Valen and Kaelan battle through a throng of demons, they order a retreat deeper into the caves.

The first wave of demons fall, and in the brief lull they begin to go deeper, planning to collapse the caves. Kaelan, to her horror, discovers the body of Mercy under a pile of dead demons. She brings Mercy to the others for healing, but they can only mend a body. Kaelan is filled with grief and guilt, knowing her actions put Mercy in danger, and her failure to reach her in time resulted in the woman's death. Rachael looks at Zeal, the two knowing the girl is gone, and there's nothing they can do about it.

Nephilim distracts a guard while Thomas and the Angel go to collect what they need. After perusing the items and selecting what they need, they rejoin Nephilim and prepare to go out again into Templar Guarded territory. As they exit, they find themselves surrounded by a legion of Templars, and standing over them all is an Anima, the voice of the God-General Titus McKeenan speaks out, greeting his errant son.

Lenneth's group reaches the area the stone keeping the Light Stone from working is kept. They approacha as they see, through the balcony, that an Anima stands over the Angel, Thomas and Nephilim. THey know they must hurry. Sia, seeing no other choice, leaps from the balcony and activates Anima D. The rest of the group head for the stone, and find a god waiting for them. Angelus greets them with a smile.

Session 100: Cry of the Anima - Part 2

Location: Tokyo, Japan / Caves

The night of the concert is finally here. Everyone it seems has gathered to attend. Both the EarthGov team and the members of the PAX are all here to see Athena sing and spread joyous feelings to all. Ulieah, Naone, and Jennifer provide backup as Athena breaks into her first and most famous song, Kitty Love.

Kaelan looks on in grief as Rachael and Zeal finish their attempts to save Mercy, to no avail. Zeal manages to get Kaelan to move and the group moves back to ready the cave in. The Oasians and Seth firing arrows to keep the demons at bay. Successfully buying the Oasians time, they begint to move back. Kaelan sets Mercy in a cart and takes up the battle when they see some of the demons that vanished previously among the innocent, attacking them. Kaelan charges in with a renewed rage and Zeal and Valen join in her fury, taking down the ambushers. As things calm for a moment, Kaelan returns to her sorrow, and Zeal snaps her out of it, reminding her of her duties.

Anima D, piloted by Sia, crashes into the ground and rises, charging in at Anima E, piloted by a God-General. Discarding the threat as Sia is a child, Anima E moves for the attack, flinging a blade at the Angel. Nephilim launches Angel out of the way and Thomas, activating the powers of a God-General, grabs Angel and defends against the Anima. Sia dodges Titus' blade throw at D and comes in with a punishing blow to E's back. The Angel reels as she senses the death of Mercy, and Jean fights her for control. Sia and Titus begin to do battle as Angelus, back in the stone chamber, toys with the followers of the Angel.

Aschae reacts to the Angel's teasing by activating her powers, using a combination magic to drive him away. Angelus vanishes in the flames as Gename and Tal'Ka hop down to the grounds. Angelus reappears by the Angel to confront her, taunting her for throwing away the lives of her followers. Anima E recovers from a blow that sent it flying and vanishes, appearing on top of Anima E and starts drilling it's blades into D. D roars and sends it flying again this time at the approaching allies. Thomas activates his God-Magic again to battle against Angelus as the others dodge and catch up, Tal digging his claws into a god for the first time.

Just as the fight is joined, Sia, Nephilim, and Aschae vanish, as does the Angel.

All those with marks, Kaelan, Rachael, Zeal, Sia, Nephilim, and Aschae appear in some strange place. Mercy laid out between the Angel and Jean, Valen somehow dragged along to this place. Angel and Jean debate over Jean's actions. The Angel knows what the drain of power ressurecting Mercy will do to them all, but Jean refuses to give up the life of a friend because it'll make a fight easier. While the group is somewhat conflicted, they all want to see Mercy back, and Valen even accepts a Mark to help. Together they give their energy to ressurect Mercy. Kaelan is reunited with her lover and the group is spared one less death in trying times. They discuss what bringing one of them back means, looking back on Dahok's death. Just as they all realize they need to get back to defend those left behind, Angelus appears.

Angelus reveals much. He reveals he can enter the Angel's soul like those marked for a simple reason, he is related to someone among them, the same way Valen was able to enter. Remaining unclear on who the relative is, Angelus only leaves the hint that the Angel's power came to her instead of his own child. His revelations however, include the rape of Angel's mother. He speaks of someone dying before the angel, and pities the fact. The Angel reels and collapses in sudden sorrow. It's then that the followers of the Angel summon weapons forged of their willpower and tell Angelus to leave.

Together the Followers of the Angel fight Angelus, willpowers collide in the Angel's soul, and the followers overwhelm Angelus' defenses, beating him out of the soul. As one they fight and they overcome a challenge again. After he's forced out, the Oasian group tells the others where they are, then fade out, back into the fight, the others return to reality, where the fight is far from over.

The song ends and intermission is called. The groups interact and enjoy themselves in this moment of peace. After a while, Athena comes back out in a seductress' dress, Jennifer and Ulieah joining her as backup singers. The darker song begins.

Jean's group reappears, Gename, Tal and Lenneth along with Thomas have been left alone to fight Anima E. Angelus reappears and summons something from the heavens before making his escape. A girl of about 18 appears with long white hair and a missing eye, covered in a strange patch, wearing odd red armor, as Tal'Ka and Gename continue to battle Anima E, the others focus on this new girl from the heavens. The girl uses exploding shards of crystal to battle them, as Thomas taunts his father to get his attention.

Sia spots her gauntlet and leaps to get it, suffereing damage as the girl shatters crystals around her, narrowly saving herself with a magic barrier. She soon reforms D and enters the fray again. When she sees she can't safely fight the girl with Jean and Neph so close, she charges E. Nephilim uses her magic and wit to overcome the girl's defenses, attacking the device on her and smashing it. Anima D crashes into E and Sia pleads with Anima E, not McKeenan, to give the God-General up. Tal'Ka manages to pull the man out, and E vanishes, Sia catching Tal and the Anima Gauntlet.

The Anima down, God-General Titus still proves formidable, repelling the attacks of Tal and Thomas. Thomas yells for Sia to toss him Anima E, the girl recovering from a vicious attack by Titus as well. Jean calls out to Nephilim that the girl is being controlled, Nephilim nods and begins to work at completely removing the device.

Back in the Oasian caves, the group reappears to the sounds of battle, and joins the fray, Kaelan now keeping Mercy in safety and Seth fighting with a vengance when he sees his friends back. Seth rushes to the defense of Carly, losing an ear but saving her life. The group rallies at the carts and as they start to head over a bridge and rushing waters, turn to complete defense. Zeal spots the tall blue skinned demon with only one good eye watching the battle, issuing orders. She knows he is the one who killed her mother, and she realizes he is the one behind it all.

Defending against fire demons, teleporters, and chargers, they make their way across the bridge slowly, when a Dragon appears. Zeal and Carly together face the Dragon, Zeal allowing the monster to eat them, and she carves it up from the inside out. The others work to get everyone across the bridge before it collapses, and Rachael goes into the water, Valen leaping in to rescue her, the two being saved by Seth who Wind Retrievals them back.

The Dragon dead, the demons held by a river, the leader lands on the other side to fight them. Zeal faces him down, unphased when he goes so far as to toss Zeal the skinned face of her own mother to get to her. Together, the team fights the Demon Leader, Zeal striking him hard and fast, and with the others attacks, they soon send him dead into the river. The Oasians rejoice, and the demons, seeing their leader die, flee from the caves the way they came. It is a victory, but a somber victory, many dead, Oas survives. They move on to lick their wounds and rest.

The song ends to much applause and Athena gives a speech, telling her parents she loves them, how they shaped her, made her who she is today. How they mean everything to her. She dedicated the next song to them. Jennifer joins her on stage to accompany her with a guitar, the two begin the song.

Lenneth confesses her guilt over standing by for 2000 years and watching injustice happen. They begin to recover, still facing the controlled girl. Sia tosses Anima E to Thomas and dismisses her own Anima, moving to aid the others. Thomas form E and crushes his father with a kick. Another blast rocks the courtyard and Solistice, another god appears. Overwhelmed and losing, the team decides to retreat. Nephilim continues to try and free the girl using her Slow Magic and Titus and Thomas continue to duke it out.

Sia and Tal'Ka charge in to meet Sol, Sia using her Gale Storm while Tal'Ka applies his favored logic of bashing anf slashing till it stops moving. Tal dodges Sol's attacks and knocks Sol down, Sia attacking with anotehr Gale Storm and knocking Sol, but messing up Tal's attack pattern. As she tries to toss fireballs at Sol, Sol teleports behind her and grabs Sia's arm, starting to crush her. Sia calls out for help when she cannot save herself and is saved when Seraphim bites into Sol's neck, draining him.

As Seraphim discovers that Godly blood gives really bad heartburn, collapsing as she starts to die, Tal moves in and slices off Solstices wings with his claws. Sol bats them all away and starts to gather cold energy. Aschae brilliantly attacks him with a water torrent, freezing the god in place. Templars begin to move in, Sia takes Seraphim, who is taken by Gename after, to safety. Jean, having moves to help Thomas live again, collapses on top of him, as Templars move to surround them. Sia uses Wind and Earth magics to keep them at bay. Tal'Ka and Aschae move to pick them up and face lightining and Templars to do so.

The remaining team members use a combination of Lenneth's powers and the collar to destroy Sol completely. Nephilim disables the device on the girl and takes the fallen girl with her. Everyone begins to flee, carrying the wounded. Nephilim in the end holding the Templars off for a moment while everyone gets to the stone, then comes rolling in after them. Lenneth steps up and holds off the Templars again as Nephilim activates the stone, sending them all to safety, minus the Goddess of Heroes.

They come out inside a ruins, too weak to move, most of them rest right there. Aschae wanders away to be on her own for a bit, Gename and Rose as well move out, to follow or wander. Sia feeds her own blood to Seraphim to save her from the God blood's effects. They rest, they sleep, needing it more then ever before.

The Oasians exit the caverns and make camp to rest. Everyone exhausted, but happy to be alive. They celebrate, Kaelan most voraciously clinging to Mercy. They may have lost many, but in the end, Oas won over the demons. Zeal is held as the next Chief and for at least a short while, they can breath fresh air.

Location: Tokyo, Japan

The concert comes to a close and the players come out to take their bows. Iko and Ako hop up on stage to be with their big sister. Athena's eyes gleam as she sees something. She shifts her position, a shot rings out, and Athena falls, a bullet through her eye. Everyone reels. Corvin aims again and Leyaeh knocks his gun out of the way before he can shoot baby Iko. Ervis sees Corvin holding a gun and raises him with telekenetics, breaking every bone in his body. Leyaeh pulls her own gun in a rage and shoots Corvin in the head.

Jennifer and Carter rush to try and help Athena, Jennifer starting surgery right there on the stage, they call for medical, but everyone knows it seems far too late. The shot was fatal. They bring Athena home, freezing her body to keep her just alive enough to possibly bring back. The teams are devastated, one girl they all loved and admired, senselessly killed. They all begin to retaliate in their own ways. Leyaeh sinks into the mystery of finding out what her boyfriend was and what he did. Xanatos does his own investigation and looks for a means to help his daughter.
