Session 211: Awakenings

Four beings awaken in a dark place, a girl with a fox tail, a man with blue skin, and two dark haired humans. They cannot remember who they are or where they come from, and they grope their way out of the darkness to a door. In the floor above they are greeted by a woman with blonde hair, she smiles, glad to see them awake. She says she is the Angel, and they are her followers. She names them, Reyj the Azuha, Rein the blue skinned one, and the humans man as Han, the woman as Rica.

Allowing them to choose their weapons, Reyj takes on daggers, Rein a large two handed axe, Han chooses to learn spells, while Rica takes up a bow. She then feeds them and not informing them on much, tells them she needs their help reaching someone who can lead them to an evil false Angel. The group agrees, and heads out with her into the city of Matias.

THe four follow her through the streets to a Templar compound, Reyj attempts to sneak over the wall, and then when her player goes AFK, she idles and is captured by some guards. Rica allows Rein to throw her over the wall, landing painfully, the group then has the realization they should get some rope, so they leave Rica inside the compound, she hides and waits for a while before they toss a rope and climb over. The four then sneak into the compound, and by sneak, we more or less mean Rein smashes the hell out of two guards, soon sounding the alarm.

They get into a library, where the information is kept on their target. The Angel locates it and destroys it, and the group then hides as two men enter the room. One is a young bishop, the other a portly man. They argue over the fate of a girl they seek. The Bishop demands she be treated well, and hearing a man known for rape is leading the charge to take her, sends in his own men. After the men leave, the group sneaks out and runs for it, fleeing the compound as the Templars chase them.

Date: Day 1

Session 212: Hunts

Racing through the streets, the group attempts to bypass some guards with Wind Jump. Rein is instead launched into the group screaming. Rica makes it to a roof and begins to snipe as Han and Angel are forced into the fight. Angel is thrown away and Han follows as Rein and Rica finish off all they can, one man getting away. The group reforms and helps Angel up. They continue to race on. Soon they are seperated, the Angel vanishing, Rica and Han racing to the mansion and Rein getting side tracked by a shadow.

As Rein battles the shadow, which turns out to be an assassin with a far too long sword and superhuman speed, it's grace versus brawn as the two fight. Meanwhile, Rica and Han arrive at the mansion to hear a girl screaming and see the mansion she's in on fire, Templars stoking the flames. Finding a well, they get inside and decend, finding a passage in the water. In a daring swim, they travel under the mansion and Han finds out he has a spell to burrow into the mansion above.

The two find the girl in the flames and get her out just in time, the mansion collapsing above them. Making their way back through the wet, they bring the girl above and meet up with Rein and Angel, who has freed Reyj. They return to the base where they settle the girl in and try to convince her they're the good guys. They rest for the evening and in the morning end up having to hold the girl from escape. With the Templars about, they make preparations to leave the city and Reyj, Rein and Han break through the gate on horseback a short time later. Rica, the girl and Angel make their own way out.

They race along, finding a grassy knoll with a cave, they hide there, disguising the entrance after they all meet up, Templars and some jerk named Emon pass them by, racing onward hoping to find them. The group rests for the night.

Date: Day 3

Session 213: Mysteries

The group awakens and travels north towards the woods, they sneak along carefully soon heading into a forest, where the Angel leads them into an undground passage, and into her base. Here they meet with Lenneth, who seems to be in charge, they are given new weapons and a chance to rest from their travels, the girl and the Angel speak to Lenneth in private while they unwind. They are then given news, the False Angel and her rogue goddess helper were spotted up north.

The group sets out on proper horses with the Angel. Along with them are two groups of mercenaries, women sworn under a Lord Byron and men sworn under Lord Kraven. The men seem leery and untrustworthy while the women stoic and not terribly interested in their own leader. The group treks across the countryside, along the way they find a group of injured Templars. After Rica manages to at least convince them to spare the women, Lord Kraven's men kill the males. The women fare little better, but one survivor is dragged into the Angel's company and tied up.

While setting up camp on the second day, the group falls asleep quickly, Rica and Han manage to keep awake. They follow Kraven and his men, who seem unaffected by whatever made everyone else fall asleep, to the water where the Angel has drifted off. Surprisingly, Kraven orders his men to bring her back to camp untouched. It's for this reason that when an oversized blade strikes for Kraven, that Rica and Han lend their abilities to help him combat the assassin. Several dead by the time they take her down, the group hogties the stoic sellsword and head back to camp. Rein wakes up in confusion, thinking the soldiers with the Angel are doing something to her and charges. All the while, poor Umi was distracted, out in the woods hunting some animals.

In the ensuing chaos, Rein is nearly killed after taking several down, and Han as well trying to help him. Rica manages to calm everyone down and reminds them that they are allies, stopping Kraven's men from slaughtering them all. With their numbers greatly reduced, the group tries to relax and recover, with the Assassin tied up to a horse.

Date: Day 6

Session 214: Woods

In the deep of the woods, flames suddenly gouge down, lighting the trees on fire. The horses scream and run, with their four passengers on them at high speeds. The group tries to get them to calm as they race into the dark of the forests. That is, until Rica's horse breaks it's legs and the woman is thrown into the darkness. Rein stops to help her and Han and Reyj ride on, soon crashing into trees, worse off. Using their voices, they find one another in the dark, when a fifth voice joins in, taunting them a little.

It warns them of monsters coming and after some convincing from the rational Rica, offers a rope. During the convincing, the Templar woman captured from earlier crashes behind them with Umi, they bring her along for the ride. The group travels after the owner of the voice over branches, avoiding monsters until monkeys attempt to hump Rein's face. Rein smashes. The group eventually comes to a point where the voice, as it turns out to belong to a young elf girl, she leads them to the entrance of a cave and inside, into yet another hidden base.

Here they find many more people, most of them civilians. The group makes some friends, Umi gets bacon. The group is brought in to meet a collection of new gods, the goddess Autumn and the god Pariah. The two inform them that they are working for the side of good, and not with either Angel. Deciding they may be onto something, the group starts to ask to have their memories restored. While Autumn prepares one trip, she sends Faile to bring the group to another location to restore their memories. She teleports with them to a dank, run down fortress. Accompanying them are the same elven girl that led them in, a steel eyed woman named Zeal and her companion, Legretta.

Here they soon discover they are in Soniere prison, a location which will jog the memories of Han and Rica. As they ascend stairs, Rica begins to have flashbacks of being raped and tortured, then worse, her own torture of others. They arrive at the cell of a madwoman, Rica's cell. Here they learn she was a woman who killed more then 80 men by castration, a demon who killed for pleasure, she was a serial killer the followers of the Angel failed to stop escaping from the Prison.

Date: Day 7

Session 215: Soniere

The group watches as Rica battles with her own demons, before accepting her past and realizing she is no longer that person. They group continues on, heading next for Han's cell, his problem is the opposite however, he remembers different feelings, despair, being innocent. Yet he remembers holding a sword before creeping up on the woman he was accused of murdering. Not pausing for answers, they have another problem to face as darkness engulfs them, and Faile is taken.

The group heads upwards, giving chase, on the way, Zeal idles out and due to it, is rescued through the sacrifice of Legretta. While that happens, the others reach the top, where they find a mysterious man attempting to sacrifice Faile. The group attempts to attack the man, who is far too powerful for them. In a twist, Rein's charging gives the man the blood he needs to continue his ritual and summon a gate. Faile is spared and the group pulls back. Zeal arrives in time to identify the man as Jonathan Morrowind, an old companion on the ship Hope.

Morrowing escapes and the group is left to deal with the portal, Zeal has a simple plan, brind down the prison around the portal so there's nothing to exit to. A combination of spells start to bring it down, and the group races downwards. They are delayed when Zeal rushes off to find Legretta's body with their mysterious elven companion. The group decides to go after them, while Faile runs on without them. Weighed down by Rein's body, they dump it over the stairs and rush forward, proceeding down several stories with the prison coming down on top of them, they find Zeal and Legretta, with the elf.

The elf raises Legretta from the dead and is weakened, Zeal passing out through the life link. The three are forced to drag them down below. Nearly at the bottom, Rica starts on her way down when Reyj dumps Zeal and Legretta down a hole she's climbing, nearly killing her. In a complicated series of falls, the group gets back to the Light Stone they came in on and teleports out.

They next travel to Reyj's old home, a village in a grassy plains, covered with Azuha, Humans and Elves alike. This appears to be Oas, as Zeal seems right at home. They however, are not at home with Reyj, who they call a traitor. She submits that she is innocent and one of the Azuha tries a mind meld with her to learn her true memories. They discover that she was forced into being framed for the murder that they accuse her of, in reality, quite innocent.

Returning back after some time, Autumn asks them if they would like to bring their Angel to them. They agree and use the Light Stone to summon her, as she appears, Autumn puts a collar around her neck, calling her a puppet.

Date: Day 8

Session 216: Heroes and Villains

The group headed north at Autumns bidding after it was explained that the woman they followed was not Jean, the true Angel. They moved into a battle fought between the Templars, the Elves aided by the True Followers and their Angel's men. After a bloody and dangerous fight, the group was forced to chase down Kraven who doggedly persued the elves. It was then that they found out that Kraven was a follower of Manus Dei, and that they had all been tricked. He let spill that the base had been attacked and the group, choosing between aiding the Angel's group or headed to save their own Angel, rush to the aid of their own. They find the base devastated and Zeal, Angel and Autumn have been taken. The group rides south with Cersei and enters a dream state as they ride.

They learn that their Angel is actually Jean's sister, a girl named Aurica, who always was jealous of the attention her big sister, Lorelei, known as Jean now, was given. She coveted her pet dog Pupumi, and all the praise she was given throughout the years. Then one fateful day, an attack on Earth supposedly killed off Lemon posing as General Cheryl and Lorelei, Aurica saw it about to happen and had a chance to warn them, but instead just watched them die. Wracked with guilt, she easily fell into Angelus' hands, who brainwashed her into his service.

After Angelus was defeated, Aurica was free from him, however, she fell almost immediately into the hands of Manus Dei, who brainwashed the child ones more and found her followers, people she selected for convenience, a rapist, a murderer, an innocent bystander and a framed traitor, all works of art. The child named them after things that deep down were important to her, Rien, after Darien Starr, Rica, after herself, Han, after Ethan Mor'kah and Reyj, after Freyja.

They were all brainwashed to become her followers, and set to wake up in Matias with the new 'Angel' serving Manus Dei. They had been played right into her hands. And now they marched back to the place they left Revi's little sister, back to the lair of Manus Dei to end the madness once and for all.

Date: Day 10

Session 217: Art of Freewill

Attempting to dig into the base from above, Cersei goes in on her own, telling the others to stay behind. This of course leads Naja the Templar Girl, Pumpumi and Reyj all to ignore her and follow after, slipping down and falling on top of her, alerting the guards and getting the four of them captured. The rest of the brave heroes, Rica, Han, Rien and the elf, who goes by Shae, to roll their eyes and try the front door. Shae sneaks into the base without them and the three try the front, overpowered and put on their knees. They are told to submit or their friends will die. Hoping it's a mere bluff, they try and stall for time, which leaves Rien the brain room to start attacking again, Han joins in. A head rolls.

They learn soon that Reyj has been killed and Rica forces the other two to stand down entirely. They submit and are brought before the goddess Manus Dei, who currently holds court with many of her other prisoners. Meanwhile, provided a way out of the cells, Naja chooses to talk to the guards rather then free Umi. Back in the chambers, Manus Dei continues her court by torturing people, threatening rape, when an attack begins outside. Manus is distracted and moves down below to prepare something for the true Angel.

The group uses this oppurtunity to tray and escape, however, collars that hold them prove to be quite deadly. Han ignores the shooting pains in his head when he tries to cast magic and tries harder, his head exploding. The others soon overpower their captors by overloading the limit they can hold and killing some of those using the collars against them. Rica and Rien comes face to face with Moira, who has freed Umi and Naja. Getting Revi's sister out and free, and sending most of the others to escape, Cersei, Rica, Rein, Naja and Han's Zombie head down below.

There they find Thomas, Aurica and Autumn strapped to a detonating crystal weapon, their powers being used to fuel it. Aurica redirects her power into her marked as the heroes free a hundred prisoners, then face Manus Dei herself. Moira battles half of Manus Dei off to one side as Naja prays for help and is teleported out. Leaving Rica and Rien to fight first a golem that Manus sends at them, then Manus herself. The guilty Aurica cries for her friends to escape, but Rien charges Manus and has his heart ripped out.

Rica, the lone survivor, distracts Manus from her work by questioning what her motives are, they talk and Manus Dei says she prefers the old Rica. The two continue, several minutes stalling Manus from taking out half of Matias continent to kill Jean Al'ryl. Rica challenges her beliefs, showing she is completely reformed from the mass murderer she once was. Then, bored, Manus takes the girl's head and starts to slowly eat away the new Rica to bring out the old, turning back to her work and claiming Freewill is nothing but foolish thoughts. Just then, the Angel and her followers step into the room, seeing the slowly dying Rica, the fallen heroes, and Manus remaining.

Jean informs Manus she knows nothing of free will.
