History:
Known as the Kingdom of Sinai from 0 AJ through 2400 AJ mostly, following the decade after the Angelic War when the remnants of the Church under Bishop Gyro, the only surviving Bishop who actually aided the team and saw the corruption in the church took over the capital from the royal family, who became very rich nobles. Ruling the kingdoms of Matias and Sinai essentially, this worked out despite the long distance but as Tareh began to shift and morph and landscapes changed, Gyro decided that things were suffering and focused on Sinai. Renaming it after 10 years of trying to hold both kingdoms to simply Sinai, since he was not a King, things changed greatly as there was no longer a king ruling the lands and he set up things differently with a democracy like setting, voting, brought literacy up, brought jobs up, and began to create a new type of religion based on seeking out one's own beliefs in what is truth. Religion became a very big part of Sinai over 2400 AJ through 2500 AJ. And as other Bishops took over, they shaped Sinai down this path of seeking out - different religious orders popped up, but in harmony of seeking the truth of enlightenment. While it was a very human oriented place, all races were invited, included the Guild of Wizards. It was not uncommon to see catmews and Bunpers marrying and breeding with humans. Azuha also traded very much as Ty's Azuha had set up on the Island Nations before they began to shift under Libet.
However, when the virus hit in 2490 and lasted the next 50 years, it was devastating to Sinai and took down the human population all over the world. Sinai's streets were filled with the dead and dying. It was a dark, dark time and many people turned to religion as a way to seek a way to find answers. Many felt that the Angel, who was slowly becoming a god like figure, was the person who held the answers, as she brought down the Gods who oppressed them and that they needed to pray to her if she was ever to come back. The Templars, the Knights of Sinai who protected it, began to take this to heart during this time period.
From 2550 AJ until 2640 AJ, the world of Tareh began to change with the elves taking their own kingdoms by force, attacking humans, having civil wars, the Azuha leaving what was once the island nations and making their own kingdoms, Nuege becoming Neer, and Asmodeus leading the Demons and forming the Demon Realm right next door to Sinai. With Sinai facing the brunt of the Demon Realm's attacks, and the Templars dying and trying to keep them out, all the while the political leaders of Sinai trying to keep the Badelf Kingdom in line with other kingdoms, the people of Sinai began to experience a crisis. Over this 90 year period, the Alrhylites - the worshippers of the Angel - began to get more power on the religious scene and most of Sinai began to worship her as the one true God.
From 2641 through 2645 a violentless coup occurred where the government was taken over by them politically. They were voted in, or the leaders were converted. Under Bishop Canaan, a religious figure who had for decades preached about the Angel and who took office in 2645 AJ, he renamed Sinai the Empire of Alrhyl in honor of the Angel and systematically made it the only religion. From 2645 AJ through 2655 AJ all other religions were slowly weeded out as unelightened through various laws that were voted and passed on by the government senate body. Their views were simple, and can be seen in the organization tab above. All the Templars of the Empire devote themselves to her teaching and await the day the Angel returns, so they can bring her to the Empire for a new enlightenment.
Outside the one offical religion, The Empire remained friendly to all other races and the Guild that was there, and they began to send Priests out to teach about the Angel and it's views in 2660 AJ. They also became the shield against the Demon Realm, earning itself huge favors with other Kingdoms. Their army soon became the largest in the world due to this. After another war that lasted 30 years broke out between The Kingdom of Gelus and the Kingdom of Badelf in 2751 - 2780 AJ, that exhausted other races, the Empire was the race that came out the best. While Badelf suffered from the heavy penalities and other races recovered, they used this to push their religious agenda more.
The only race that could hold back the Demon Realm effectively, for the next 50 years from 2780 - 2830 AJ. They were now the race that held the Demon Realm back, being next door to them and having the mightest and proudest Knights in the realm, plus they worshipped the Angel. Their influence and sphere of power increased to other Kingdoms as their trade came with them wanting to send priests to teach about their ways, leading to them trying to covert peacefully others. Since they never invaded and whatnot, many kingdoms allowed it, albiet begrudgingly, and needing the trade, though by 2830 AJ many Kingdoms had finally recovered enough to start rejecting the priests, the damage was done and there was converts in each Kingdom.
Recent History/Politics:
The Empire holds the greatest amount of world influence, since their Templars are the highest trained, they're next door to the Demon Realm, and they have managed to get their priests about the world and spread their religion before the kingdoms were able to stop it. So their religion is all over. They have secret treaties and open treaties all over - trade treaties are known with Gelus, Ama'dorei, Neer, and Amatsune. They are also allies with Gelus and look out for them.
An Empress runs the Empire, named Lin Erica. She is in her mid-twenties, and is known for her reknown beauty. She is shrewd in her politics, and single. Known for her sexual appetite, but for not being easily tricked into bed politically, she has yet to make a fatal flaw and is devoted to the tennats of the angel completely.
