Abilities

[Primary Move] Ability Mimicry: Rea can temporarily duplicate the abilities of another person; basic abilities can be performed without the need to see them, more advanced abilities that are copied may need guidance from the source. The period in which he can reproduce the copied abilities is relatively short, usually only a couple minutes. Direct physical contact is required to initiate the ability copy. *Same person cannot be copied for rest of session (some special abilities cannot be copied, or if attempted might destroy if stats are not high enough)
[Can Copy Abilities By Touch. For Bosses. Small Fry Automatically. Mid-Level - 1 in 2 Chance. Bosses - 1 in 3 Chances. Not all skills can be copied. Same enemy cannot be copied in same session.]

[Secondary Move] Skill Mimicry: Rea can temporarily copy the fighting art of an individual, quickly adopting their style and even using it in conjunction with his own. The longer Rea is engaged in combat using the adopted skills the better he becomes with them, able to exploit particular weaknesses an opponent may have. Direct physical contact is required to initiate the skill copy.

[Tertiary Move] Ground Out: Rea can nullify any energy he comes into close proximity with; whether it is psionic, spiritual or tech based. Negating energy is dangerous and requires Rea’s concentration, so he cannot stop energy blasts while engaged in a fight where he has to be mobile.
Due to this ability, even when not actively negating energy, Rea cannot be passively read by Psion’s or other passive scanners, an area scan would not reveal his presence or thoughts; however if a Psion were to see him and focus on actively scanning him they would be able to unless Rea actively negates it.
(this move negates target at a time and an ability point must refresh this ability to use it again for another - to not be picked up by base like scans scans this move needs to be activated ahead of time)

[Racial Move] Stigmata: This allows the Dragoon to unleash a special bonded attack with their partner, the Dragoon and the Partner combining not into a dragoon so much but as becoming one being briefly, much like a Ellie and Sylph. The Stigmata power only lasts 2 minutes on the GM's clock and afterwards both are exhausted.

Background History


Guardian ‘Rea’ Reason was born and raised on the Guardian Colony, his parents were an arranged matching between the Guardians and the Next Gen. Dragoon’s who had decided to live among their Guardian brethren. Rea has inherited traits from both sides; he aged quickly to the point of maturity but from there his growth has almost halted, and it’s suspected that he will age more like the Guardians themselves however at a slower rate. (1 year for every 8) Given his heritage he has the capability of bonding but like a Guardian he can take on either role, he has not to this point attempted a bond.

He has been trained as a typical Guardian however and like many of his people he is suspicious and honorable, he also has an objective and calculating side to him; during his training he steered away from dedicating himself to any specific discipline, learning as much as he could and going to a point up to being considered a master and then changing his focus to another. This places him as an oddity but also demonstrates just how intelligent and capable he can be.

It was during this training where he showed the first indicators of his natural talents, the capability to copy or absorb the abilities and skills of another for a period of time. This mimicry ability isn’t limited in what can be reproduced, but instead the window for using the ability or skill is limited…and the time that it can be copied again increases on the frequency of a particular ability being copied. It could be due to this limitation that Rea has split his focuses and never mastered a discipline, instead of relying on his talent he has chosen to augment it by preparing himself in every possible avenue. It is whispered that in time his talents capabilities may broaden and the limitations disappear, but there’s no evidence to support this as of yet. He has a secondary ability that is linked to his mimicry, to be able to negate any non-physical effect that he comes into close proximity to whether it’s pure energy, magical, psionic or spiritual.

It is his potential that has several of the Elders concerned, the threat of a Guardian losing control of their abilities and running rampant terrifying them as it has been witnessed in the past. This concern was brought up to the current Guardian Delegate on the PAX and it was agreed that Rea would transfer there and continue his development.

When the reality storms began to tear across Prime Earth and word began spreading of the threat, the Guardian Ambassador Ariel assigned Rea to head down to Earth and assist where he can; hoping that with the guidance of people there that he can continue to grow as a Guardian and at the same time ensure that he develops the needed skills to keep himself from losing control. The Ambassador has even gone so far as to relay information to Rea in order to get him into the meetings the ‘older’ teams hold.

Rea has a very easy going or ‘light’ way about him, always willing to smile and joke with a friend; being among non-guardians though he seems more reserved than usual. During his time with the teams he's grown a bit and even tested a few of his limits; his current goal is to help with the teams and be there to help Ariel when she comes out of her coma.
